Liverpool fans want to be very careful at that away game, if we put them out, the Ultras will go on a mental stabbing spree
Lawrenson actually talking a little bit of sense for once in Salford https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43888382
Team for stoke could be 3 at back and the two full backs pushed on. then we might stick just two cms in..... assume that firmino could drop in to deeper role cos stoke will surrender area. We are the host club. I dont know if the two had tickets for example. They were obviously out of trouble going to home end at kop etc etc etc. How can roma be held accountable unless the two are known hooigans who should not ever get offical tickets. e.g. if LFC organised and announce bus route and theres a bottle neck and policing and stewarding fails to stop hooliganism. repsonsible Roma sell their allocation of tickets and roma fans come to anfield. IF roma sold tickets to known hooligans then they can be sued by family of fan injured i assume. IF roma sold tickets and two guys who are not known for trouble and are entitled to travel travel and go to wrong end and cause mayhem how can roma police or stop that. You'd want to have them pick me the lottery numbers in this case The ticket pack they should have go should have advice not to go to home end but they are ROMA fans. I bet they'd not go to home end v lazio.
I have to say while it was great and dominant a real analyis would show how roma played into our hands and actually it was a fairly simple game plan we had. We played it direct into space and slaah and mane and firmino destroyed them. once we got the ball in space after that direct ball we were sensational. Our pressing was sensational. they could not get the ball out at all. But lets not kid ourselves that its an amazing style to rival the great barca team or something here. Its direct ball to sapce that they themselves left and we expolited it to the full. their high press was pointless once slaah or mane got on it. It was brilliant but to say "The way Liverpool ripped Roma apart at Anfield was unlike any football I have ever known. I have thought the same about Premier League champions Manchester City at times this season, in that they have been playing so well that it does not seem real." We adjusted after 20mins, got our game going and blew them off the park but they were simply not a great Italian side defending they were a high press game with gaps to exploit and we had a huge speed advantage. Our press then cut them open and they fell apart as we simply turned the screw on them. They tactically got it wrong. I think jimmy commented pre-game they were playing 3 at back which was brave v salah. I said i'd expect it as they did it v barca. It was a blunder. an epic one. but they were good for 20mins. Once we found the gaps we blew them apart.
It allows us to stick vvd onto crouch and not have him winning headers all over. we have 3 cbs. Cb isn't the highest running position on park.
Just to say well done last night. I'm not a fan of you lot, but you gave a brilliant display last night.
I must say though.... when windy came on this game changed. I don't know if the yellow for Jesus or windy coming on had more influence. I felt windy held the ball for us better and allowed us to get into the game more. their lad getting a yellow mean he was so scared to touch salah that we had a field day. We seemed to find space all over the park though once we really got into them.
We were totally different after Ox got injured. Not having a go at Ox, but for some reason, that's when it changed.
Arguably Gini’s best game and it’s why I find him so frustrating. He has the ability. Just needs to show it more.
Well without Coutinho we were only a good team apparently. Withiut Salah were onlyna good team. Aeems that werenonly a good team if we if we lose our best players? Who’s have thought it. Without De gea united are only a good team. Withought Kane spurs are only a good team.
I agree. All of this "take so-and-so out of a team and....." stuff is pointless. Take key players out of any team and they'll be the poorer for it.
True but I suppose our problem is take the key players out and the back ups are nowhere near good enough. We need to bridge that gap.
Of course, but it can't be done overnight. We've seen previous managers make wholesale changes every year and struggle to integrate the team because of it. It's why I back the club supporting Klopp's medium term plan to build the team with the players he wants, and abandon the scattergun approach of the past few years.
