I've often wondered just how so many talentless wastes of space ever achieve such high office...

I know you don't condone antisemitism, Strolls, and if there is genuine racism here ie that immigrants from the Caribbean were being treated differently to those from Australia, NZ or Canada, then I agree it should be exposed. I just haven't seen evidence of intent from May, just the Home Office cocking up by being over zealous - for which ministers have to accept responsibilty

    Because it’s fixed from birth
We work for them and haven’t got the balls to do anything about it
They control us through the media and culture as people only care about themselves imo
So today it’s all about a baby only in the U.K.

Imagine if England only put British stuff in their shops. Nothing wrong with Greece the country was shafted

It's looking like we are getting closer to the point where the government will be forced to accept remaining in the Customs Union post-Brexit. Excellent news, particularly as Fox and Johnson are likely to resign as a result. This is from yesterday's Sunday Times.......

Theresa May’s team has privately admitted she may have to accept permanent membership of a European customs union, after a secret wargaming exercise concluded that even Brexiteers such as Michael Gove and David Davis would not resign in protest.

The prime minister has insisted that the UK will leave the common tariff area so it can pursue free trade deals outside the EU. But one of May’s political team told a meeting on March 20 that she and senior aides “will not be crying into our beer” if parliament forces the government’s hand — a position that will enrage some Brexiteers.

The Lords voted last week to stay in a customs union and 10 Tory MPs are expected to do so in the Commons, overturning May’s majority.

In the crunch meeting — attended by Oliver Robbins, May’s chief Brexit negotiator — officials predicted Gove and Davis would accept that outcome while only Boris Johnson and Liam Fox would be likely to quit. The foreign secretary has publicly said staying in a customs union would be “worse” than remaining in the EU.

Gove’s stance was confirmed by four sources who have discussed the issue with the environment secretary. “Michael is not ready to roll over in cabinet,” one said, “but he recognises that the arithmetic is difficult.”

The revelations will be greeted with anger by hardline Brexiteers around Jacob Rees-Mogg, who have privately warned Tory whips that remaining in a customs union would prompt a leadership challenge.

A source familiar with the discussion said: “They sat in a room in 9 Downing Street when they were discussing Brexit and Olly Robbins came in. The discussion focused on what to do if parliament votes to stay in a customs union. Someone from the political unit at No 10 said: ‘We wouldn’t cry into our beer if we were forced to do this.’ The PM needs to go through the choreography of trying to leave but we might be forced to do it.”

Robbins has been pushing for customs union membership as a way of preventing a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic. The source added: “The civil service fast stream have a pool on who is going to resign first. All the money is on Liam Fox and then Boris.”

Members of May’s Brexit war cabinet will meet on Wednesday to discuss trade before finalising the UK’s stance ahead of a crunch EU summit on June 29.

In an effort to turn the screws, Labour is demanding the prime minister bring forward a binding Commons vote on whether Britain should remain in the union.

In a letter to May, Sir Keir Starmer, Labour’s Brexit spokesman, claims that delaying the vote has already led to “deep anxiety” for businesses and communities across the UK, particularly in Northern Ireland. He offered to surrender Wednesday’s opposition day debate so she can bring forward the vote.

“The government cannot indefinitely delay the passage of legislation through the Commons for fear of defeat on crucial votes,” Starmer writes. “If a decision is not made until June then that will leave just three months to negotiate the details of the final agreement.”

A Downing Street source said May would continue to argue for Britain to quit the union. “Government policy is to leave the customs union. That’s what we will continue to argue for. That’s where we want to end up.”

Tell you what you notice after two and a half hours in the see and treat bit of A&E after your dog has nipped your wife while she attempts to remove something forbidden from his mouth (not a bite, an attempt to retrieve the contraband) and it’s this:

There are a lot of great big fat people who come in limping with sprained ankles or dodgy knees.

I think there’s a simple cure for that, and I have had to be restrained by said wife from explaining it in a very direct fashion to all those who would benefit from the information.

As I write another one waddles in, wearing trainers, shorts and a sweatshirt, but the sporty look can’t disguise his 55 inch waist.

It’s three hours now and for some reason, after two nurses (triage and see and treat) have inspected my wife’s thumb now a doctor is needed to agree that it needs dressing plus a tetanus shot and a course of antibiotics. So they are looking for a doctor.

Despite the delays it seem to be the easiest place to see a doctor. Such a shame as when I was a kid with Asthma the doctor would come to see me.

Just been talking to a very nice lady (who as a vet had some advice on removing objects from possessive dogs) who is a frequent flyer at A&E with her little daughter who was born prematurely and has a variety of breathing problems. Thankfully they were allowed to queue jump.

I see that LJ hasn't yet commented on the French Presidents, Mr. Maccaroon, apparent love affair with the American idiot president, Mr.Trump. (Although Trump is probably better looking than Macs wife)

I can't think of anybody, anywhere in the world today, that I would be less happy sharing space with than Trump. He's the opposite of everything I would hope to be, think, say and feel.

Will you feel the same if he brings about the denuclearisation of North Korea?

He will be applauded if this happens but many presidents have tried and failed nevertheless he is a proven liar and changes his mind every day.

Yes, a psychiatrist would have a field day (if he wasn't sacked before reaching a conclusion)

I do not interfere with these threads.

Just to say it is becoming very apparent that North Korea sort of accidentally blew up their own testing site...they cannot actually use it...it has collapsed.

So this is a bit of a face saving exercise...

That North Korea and America are both using to their own ends

I'm sure you're right. I suspect China should get some credit too, if the unthinkable happens and N Korea rejoins the rest of the world
