The horse I have a share in, Lucca Lady, has her first run back after her winter break at Stratford today. Expecting it to just be a run to blow away the cobwebs but I suppose you never know with horses.
Stratford 2.00 THEO’S CHARM 5/1 The 8yo reverts back to chasing off much lower mark of 131.Only had the six chase starts to date but produced solid placed efforts in three of those, filling the runners up spot behind both Theinval(winner yesterday off 144)and Robinsfirth(winner since off 142)and then when 3rd behind Ridgeway Flyer(won next time off 137).Also kept some fair company over hurdles placing behind the likes of Brain Power,Kruzhlinin,Sam Spinner and Tommy Rapper.Jockey Tom Cannon in good form(28% in past fortnight).
Stratford 4.45 DYLANSEOGHAN @ 9/2 Been consistent this term without winning, filling the runner up spot behind Dontminddboys and Clondaw Westie and finishing 3rd behind Kincora Fort.Nothing wrong with latest effort when beaten just under 4ls at Kempton. That was a deeper looking contest than this with the pair in front of him rated 113 and 109 and the runners behind rated 104,108,105 and 114.Been dropped 2lb for that effort to 99 and should get involved again.
Market Rasen 3.00 ROUERGATE @ 10/1 Found the mares hurdle at the festival much too hot and pulled up last time at Wincanton but showed earlier that the ability is there.Looked sure to collect at Ludlow in January only to fall at the last and then made no mistake here next time over 2m.Also finished 3rd(beaten 6ls)behind Dame De Compagnie at Uttoxeter last November and that one boosted the form by landing the listed mares hurdle at Cheltenham midweek.Outsider of the field here but is a course winner, steps up to 2m4f for first time and both trainer and jockey been in great form.
Cliff horse for myself and Reebs - the ground ought to be plenty lively enough for him but best of luck
Wincanton 4.25 IRISH PROPHECY @ 5/2 Emma Lavelle’s 5yo comes in here a fresh horse having not raced since a Kempton class 2 last December.Drops into class 4 here and looks the clear form pick.He beat Champ in a Kempton bumper and that one was just pipped by the talented Vinndication last time at Ascot. His 2nd behind Kalashnikov at Doncaster Also reads well now with that one going on to hack up in the Betfair Hurdle and then go down by a neck in the Supreme Hurdle at the festival.Jockey Adam Wedge on a high after landing the Scottish National yesterday.
Wincanton 2.50 WATERLOO WARRIOR @ 10/1 Twelve race maiden has filled the runner up position five times with his best effort probably coming in a Chepstow bumper when 2nd,beaten 3/4l by Coastal Tiep who went on to win over fences off 134.Been running on some very bad ground this term so this sounder surface could bring improvement as could the combination of a 106 day break and a wind op.
Afternoon all Longtime no speak. I hope everyone is keeping well. One for today: 5:05 market Rasen - Ready Token (To be placed) @ 4.2 8lb lower than his last win & was running a decent race when brought down two runs back & will like the faster ground.
5 day Punchy festival just around the corner . Just read Willie Mullin's appraisal of his strings chances on ATR and as usual tells us punters nothing. No surprise there. However he doesn't even mention last year's winner of the Grade 1 Punchestown Champion Hurdle, yet does have time for that complete nutcase Yorkhill. It seems dear ol Wicklow Brave is under appreciated by everyone including his trainer. Mullin's has €500k to find in his battle with Elliott for the trainers title but is only 5/4 as opposed to Elliott 8/11. That looks like a fair ol mountain to climb. Edit: just read Mullins was €400k behind Elliott going into Punchy 2017 and won by €200k so definitely achievable, but should be a very tight finish.
Elliott has a much stronger yard of horses compared to a few years ago, can't see Mullins turning it around this year, remember he's also miss the Ruby factor even with decent deputy
Wow welcome back galaxy , I remember u from the BBC days, yourself, stick and that trouble maker arkle were the mainstays back then!
