Yep, very true although I think Beckhams play was more from midfield right rather than offensively right. But anyway, MH will have it sussed by Thursday!

thanks VR. Yes I tend to keep fairly quiet when flying.
I want to enjoy this semi final. I have a really strong feeling we are going to win the FA Cup. Im very confident about this
Is there a NOT 606 beer meet up before the game??

I'm going with my brother plan on getting to London about 11ish, was thinking of heading to covant garden for a bit before the game and then on to Wembley from there, not sure how easy this will be what with the Marathon going on as well.

How Mike Dean let him get away with that is staggering. Perfectly sighted, and yet does not make the call. So typical of our season.

I think that saying this is underestimating quite how good JWP is with a dead ball. My seat is right behind the free kick on Saturday and I swear it looked like it was going to fly over the Chapel stand. The amount of swerve was amazing. And that's a quite different kick from his corners, which are usually whipped in: flat and pacy rather than loopy.

What I find most impressive about JWP is that he is always learning. 18 months ago all he had was the dead ball delivery. His tackling was weak, his ball retention was poor and his passing was accurate but always safe. Now, when the ball goes to him I do not fear it's immediately going to be lost, when I see him being lined up by the opposition winger I do not assume there will be an inevitable cross and when he receives the ball his first instinct is to rapidly move the ball on, forwards. Add to that the knack he's developed of arriving late into good positions in the box and, to me, he's a completely different player. He's not a world beater at any of those things, but the total package is well worth his place in the team.

I said it before, he has all the qualities of Steven Davis but with an added happy knack of getting in the right place in the penalty area and of course his superb dead ball delivery.

I was watching from the Chapel, in line with the free kick and I agree 100%. The amount of movement, both side-to-side and dip JWP put on in was incredible. Cahill couldn’t jump high enough to reach the ball but a few yards further on it was the perfect height for Bednarek to smash it in. He does this several times every time he plays but this one worked to perfection. He also had a couple of shots on target on Saturday from open play.

Whatever happens this season we must surely keep hold of him and build the team to benefit from his contribution.

He is in my view a ‘core player’ along with the others who put in a terrific shift on Saturday. It’s the unfortunate lot of some players in this category that because they lack perhaps that something which the ‘star’ who decides at which point he’ll turn on some magic, if the mood suits him etc., they are often not on the first choice list for many supporters. Yoshida, Austin, Long, to me typify the attitude we desperately need at present. In fairness on Saturday I saw a real change in body language, effort and determination across the whole team. JWP I believe helps to foster that approach. The defensive thing is I’m afraid more difficult to fix but if MH and his team can quickly produce a partial fix to stem the flow, at least we know we can score goals again.

As we're on the subject, did anyone else notice at the weekend that after McCarthy claimed a corner, Despite his speed JWP was the first one out running to get forward and counter?

I’m quite pissed off with the Alonso retrospective ban. It ****s us even more as he would miss the Swansea game for them.

Mike didn't miss it for ****, makes me rage him even claiming he did. You can see it clearly see it and that's on the tv, so how **** he missed it from where he is a quite frankly laughable. As for Dermots comments saying he was to close and at the wrong angle <laugh><doh>.

Some good news, no a metoerite didn't strike Jamie Vardy last night while he slept, but a close second perhaps. Kasper has not trained this week as they assess his ankle, and is due to miss our game. Now that would be a nice little boast.
