Yeah, we're in great form. I just worry when we play Arsenal. They've got a nasty habit of bringing us back down to earth. I really hope we can grab a win though as it will ramp things up for our game at Everton and give us a real chance of overtaking them.
Undoubtedly, being Newcastle fans we know a humbling fall from grace is always round the corner, but if we looked at all the Newcastle vs Arsenal games logically from the last decade, we'd surely say the circumstances around this one would pretty much be the only time we should be favourites going into it. Arsenal's defence are prone to switching off, their midfield no longer comfortably hold possession all game because they have one or two too many weak-links (Maitland Niles and the lad they used the other week are clearly not the required standard), and when you consider the Europa commitment, it's just a great time to play them at home. It's up to the lads to go out there and put the performance in to make sure it happens. I think Everton is eminently winnable as well, for some of the same reasons, the fans hate Sam, the players are past-it, and they will struggle next year without an overhaul, if they can afford it.
Everton is totally winnable, had their last shot on target in the 42nd minute against Swansea and required an absolute cluster **** OG to score. Would love to shove it in fat Sam's face and end up above them. Arsenal I'd say have their biggest weakness in defence. Considering our proclivity for missing chances they're still way out favourites, though I agree it is the closest we've been in the last decade.
Wenger has really rotated. Those forwards are very dangerous though. Hope we can press early and grab a goal.
Just watched the old 4/4 against Arsenal and that amazing comeback and Tiotes wonder strike. So sad to see what was possibly one of his finest moments in a black and white shirt knowing he has gone. I hope we do him proud today.
Genuinely, if you made a team out of those 2 sides, Lacazette, Aubameyang, Montreal and Czech are the only ones I'd include from Arsenal. We can most definitely win this!
We started well, so no need to get disheartened yet. They took a well made chance, the first one of the game. That's the premier league for you! Hopefully we get the next one, because this is already a great open game.
Sky sports talking about Jamaal handling it... one of the typical 2 yards from the shot source, trying to block it with a slide, and the commentator cries unnatural arm position. A) unless you have an arm sown to your arse, what is an "unnatural position"? B) the laws have only ever been about deliberate intention, not having an arm sown to your arse.
