Happy birthday Wooly! I'm overdue the winner of the national so hopefully today can be the day. I'm really strong on the chances on Seeyouatmidnight and he is definitely my main selection. He has some seriously good form in the book and should have no problems with the trip or the ground. My other selections are Milansbar, Pleasant Company, Houblon Des Obeaux and Carlingford Lough. I've been really strong on Carlingford Lough in this for the last two years only for him to be taken out of the race at the last minute. He has struck me as being a perfect national horse for years. Seems like he would love the trip and the test of the national fences. Has some seriously strong form in the book too. Only issue for me is that this may be a year too late as I'm not sure he is quite as good as he once was. He has clearly been campaigned for this race unlike previous years and he also gets in off a much lower mark than he would have done last year (where he was due to be top weight). One more bet for me today is Coole Cody in the Liverpool Hurdle at 33/1. This is an awful race that Sam Spinner really should be winning however I couldn't be backing him at 5/4. Coole Cody is a really progressive handicapper that has won his last three races very well. The form of his last run has been boosted by some of the horses in behind running well in big handicaps at the Cheltenham festival. He is a point winner over 3 miles so should have no issues with the trip and there are major doubts and reliability issues over loads of others in the race. He obviously needs to continue his improvement but at 33/1 I think it's worth taking that chance. Good luck everyone and enjoy the day!
I think Evan Williams has plotted one up nicely for his daughter in the 1.45 at Aintree with Prime Venture. Won readily on soft at Ffos Las over 3 miles just before Christmas for which he was raised a whopping 12lbs and, whilst he was well beaten at Sandown subsequently, he showed that he could improve to be competitive off his new mark with a 10 length 8th position in the Pertemps Final. Crucially, the trainer's daughter Isabel takes off 7lbs here and I think she has a right old chance to add to her 4 winners from just 10 rides in 2018.
As opposed to bet fred shops only doing 4 places and not best odds, ripping the casual punter, same with hills, worse than a mugger
Grand National: Ucello Conti 20/1 each way Houblon Des Obeaux 40/1 each way Final Nudge 50/1 each way Just dont fancy any of the horses near the top with the ground as it is. Good luck all!
I didn't know this although it doesn't seem to want to do it on my screen. We might not even have 10 finishers! I m alright with 5 or 6 places...
You have to choose a selection at 6 places then on the bet slip you can change it to up to 10 places. Can’t see a market for all the horses at 10 places, have to look at each one individually. Like you say though, I think 6 places will be enough for me....
Morning all. Happy birthday Wooly. Well I am in truly shocking form at the moment the worst since I started punting. Had intended on having a little break but since it’s national day I thought I would join in. Gone for TOTAL RECALL & TIGER ROLL in the National. Then hoping O’Brien mops up at Leopardstown. Could be dangerous backing his so soon but Conclusion 1.40 Gustav Klimt 2.10 I Can Fly 2.45 The Pentagon 3.50 Singles and a lucky 15. Hoping for a good run from The Pentagon as he is my idea of the Derby winner & have him at decent prices. Good luck all
Happy birthday Woolley Bulley I've decided that I can't find the GN winner this year (I'm usually at least hopeful) so rather than name 6 I am sticking to just two who have been over the GN obstacles previously. Ucello Conti and Gas Line Boy. Although Petite Mouchoir looks nailed on I am a big fan of Lady Buttons so have done both rfc. I really want Sam Spinner to put this lot to the sword today (and recoup my Cheltenham loss!) Good luck all
It then reduces the price also, so if you back Gas line boy @22s but would like 7 place your price is 16s, 8th 14s, 9th 12s 10th 11s
