If in the end the ground becomes heavy the last time it was run in those conditions was in the 2001 and finished fourth horses although it's true that the race has softened something since then.

I think come race time tomorrow and assuming there is not too much drizzle in morning the Grand National will ride soft as it's predicted to be dry outside the morning and the race is quite late in the day.. I await official confirmation of this on the ITV morning show when they walk the course and then my bets will go on...

I think Blaklions task is that much harder now seeing as he has gone up a 1lb and being such a small horse on the soft ground. Don't see him winning. Would have backed him if it was good or good to soft.

Perfect weight, perfect ground for him, great trainer/jockey, won over this distance and similar numerous times. He's struggled last two runs probably on purpose to get his mark down a bit and be primed for this. Fits all the criteria and boxes, and would be very disappointed if he didn't oblige

I run a sweepstake every year and have decided to see what the 'Hot' numbers have been over the last 4 years.

37 has been placed 4th and 5th three times out of the last 4

    It is written...lump on Bryony.

I don't get why it only has a "squeak" ? It should be near favourite in my opinion, even if it loses you're still getting 66/1 (albeit don't think that price is available anymore) on a 20/1 at most shot. It won the midlands national last year, it goes well and handles this distance, it's a classy horse, perfect age, has an excellent trainer and jockey onboard, fresh and primed, on it's optimum weight (won 2/2 at this weight) and will love the ground.

Obviously it's the national and anything can happen but as i said if it can stay out of trouble i'd be really surprised if CTS didn't win

Gutted re regal encore. But what a silly rule that is. Why aren't they allowed to replace entries up to morning of race? Owners dream of getting a chance to run their horse in the National.

Is the cross country race at Cheltenham now the best trial for the grand national In the last 5 years Balthazar King, Causes Of Causes and of course Tiger Roll have come 2,2,1 and the other two (Josies orders and Rivage D’Or didn’t run in) so next year who ever wins/ I think will win the XC Cheltenham 2019 is going to be GN bet 2019 <laugh>
