funny thing... last weekend Oliver reffed and didn't give pen awards soft one to allow real through.... funny that.
I had to give credit to the ref for his patronising pat on the head of Otamendi. You know you've messed up when even the ref feels sorry for you.
only when they are giving them to us. We have oliver last week. He allowed everton foul us all over the park and just reffed it like it was a rugby match. he then goes mid week and refs a CL game and refs it totally differently. Why cos its merseyside derby do we accept a kicking match.
If we're going to cry inconsistency every time we see it we'll be hoarse. Football isn't an exact science, and things like VAR that seek to make it so just take the soul out of the game. Injustices are annoying, and officials should be better trained, and perhaps subject to more stringent review, but they will always suffer from human failings to an extent. Whatever he got wrong last week (in our opinion) won't be put right by him getting it wrong again, in a different match, between two different teams. Annoying though it is when you're on the receiving end, if there was no controversy we'd not have a lot to talk about. He was right to award the pen last night, imo - although as I've said, I was hugely disappointed.
The phrase "homer" doesn't just relate to Bart's dad, it refers to the likes of Oliver, it's laughable to believe he'd have given that decision against Juve at the Stadio Del Alpi in the last minute but totally believable he did give that decision in Real's favour at the Bernabeu.
Buffon called Oliver(amongst other things)"a murderer", considering Uefa don't take context into consideration Buffon should be fined and banned for that kind of language. Even if that was his final European game for Juve the stain of the ban should be attached to his name. The Italian's are dramatic in speech and mannerisms but ffs "murderer"
He doesn't give a ****, legend status secured, pretty much like the Zidane headbutt, any punishment will be a complete waste of time. He's retiring. Football ban = stain? Oliver is a stain.
our main problem is bold above. The are treated as gods unless they do something really bad to a club with influence and then they are thrown under bus. there is no system for putting these things right. other sports do this. IMO we need to separate a guy who's trying to make a decision on one incident and might get it slightly wrong and being pillioried by the 20 replay merchants and the guy who is going out to ignore the rules atkinson: applies totally different penalty rules to any other ref. won't give them Oliver: reffing for home team. They apply the don't want to send anyone off so work away first half lads approach. you can foul 6 times if you are fouling the right way before a card in 70th min but if you are a young lad away from home .. yellow for blinking.
In the picture of Mo and the team celebrating(facing our support) the blue plume of smoke was from behind the opposite goal(home end)?
I do wish that people would stop saying we are going to win CL No matter who we get this is going to be so tough It is great to be in the semi final like amazing great But we are not favourites - Roma looked excellent last night and real always do just enough and the Germans are the Germans so have we got a chance - yes but so have those other teams.
Favourites according to who? The bookies had Man City v Barcelona #thatwentwell We're the best football side so the biggest danger is a #bentasfuck ref otherwise #sixtimes
