Afternoon, I was wondering if any of you fine people can help me. Just back from hol's and decided to have a look at Beverley 4.10. I was tempted to have a dabble on Sleepy Blue Ocean at 10/1 e/w--reasonable form and the plum draw...or so I thought. Is it right that low numbers now have a huge advantage over high numbers? Are the stalls still placed on the inside? Are they now doing a "countdown" from left to right of numbers?...Can't work it out. Help.
Stalls on inside, therefore they get the far rail so generally the low numbers are the ones you want to be with (right handed so stalls reversed) In regards working out the draw, its always low numbers on the inside of the bend, so right handed tracks are reversed. I would watch the bullet before betting in the 4.10
2.30 Newmarket Mehdi 9/1 Mehdi has had a good start to his and has never been outside of the first 3 on his 5 starts, including 1 win. He was an impressive 9L winner in a class 5 and LTO I think he bumped into a very very nice type in Rebellious Guest as I had been following RG since debut. Will act on the softer ground and although Samitar definitely sets the standard here Mehdi looks still full of improvement for the in form Meehan yard. Im also going to have small bet on Lemon Rock at 40s as I think its very interesting that Ben Curtis goes over for 1 ride from Ireland
Silly question - what the difference between a filly and a mare? Is it just age, or is a mare already a mum?
Dexter ooooh far be it for me to criticise King Kieran but I think he would ride that race differently if he could have another go. Allowed the lightweight to get too much daylight
In thoroughbred horse racing a filly becomes a mare at 5 years and a colt becomes a horse at 5 years (if entire)
Many thanks Ron. Can't recall seeing that many entires, although Chock A Block in the 4.00 Newmarket is
Always think it interesting that a horse goes first time out to one of these high value sales races - therefore a small interest in Sweet Liberta
Glad you enjoyed the match Dex, it was a bit too close in the end for me though. Can't wait for the World Cup. It will be great to see the Northern Hemisphere guys here too.
