Because film composers don't tend to be people's hero's. Simple as that. It's a weird choice.
Sergio Leone was a real master of film. Morricone was doing great work in the background but that's what a soundtrack is. It's a piece of a puzzle that Leone put together.
It's like Brian Epstein, Drew Bundini Brown or James Camerons special effects guy being someone's hero. Yeah they did good work but at what they're best at... They're a sideshow.
Other than those who work in their particular field... They're odd choices.
That's a pretty normal choice. Not some bloke who wrote music for spaghetti westerns.
Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are great film composers and Nick Cave is my hero (though it maynot be the right word, don't think inspiration is right either, more biggest admiration), mind you he also produces and records studio albums, is a play write and a novelist. So there's a canny bit more dimension to him.
Nick Cave writes films too. Lawless is a ****ing masterpiece.
He's a massive hero.
Who's to say who a hero should be, it could be that bloke down the road who looked after your dog that one time, a critically acclaimed director, a soldier or your dad. Different things to different people.
That's all well and good but some choices are just a bit ****ing odd mate. Barry Chuckle would be a weird choice. That's just how it is.
