It is going to be massive if we can get safety in the bag in the next few weeks. I think he will stay in that case.

We are one result from safety. Home to West Brom is surely 3 points, every other game is just padding - I am still shocked that we actually win or last two winnable games (and deserved to).

I think with 35 points we're safe already tbh, with 38 it's definite, but 35 will probably do this season seeing how weak the bottom of the table is.

Rafa, hmmmm......can only really see him staying if Ashley ****s off, or he gets guarantees about spending that Ashley sticks to. He's a winner, and won't take another season of this ****.

    Second para, T

Don’t think we are safe just yet but one more win or 3 points from draws should do it.

Its not good news if Rafa expects Penfold to still be here next season ....................... because regardless of who the owner is, it really is time for this dumpy little **** to be put out of his misery!!!

If Ashley does not sell it will just be more of the same and i don't reckon Rafa is up for that. The Fat Man needs to go.

If he gets funds then he will stay. If he can make a top 10 push with this squad imagine what he can do with some actual investment?

I need the Kleenex box ready just at the thought of that!!!!

Ashley will not inject fresh money. The only money Rafa will get is what is already there or that can be generated. Will that be enough?? I'm not convinced it will.

Plus who will be sniffing next season for his services? If the Spurs job came up for example, would he turn that down to stay and work with Fat Man and Penfold?

Firstly, it's never enough is it? Managers and fans always want more money. If he gets all the money the club has generated then we will have a canny wedge to spend. In 2015, before our relegation, we made a £32.5m profit. TV money has gone up 70% in that time but I can't say our cost base has. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised if we made a £50m+ profit this year. I could be wrong but I would be amazed if the club won't turn a pretty healthy profit. Add to that the sale of Mitrovic and any other players and we are looking at at least £20m on top. So we are talking decent money to allow Rafa to buy probably 4 or 5 players to enable us to move the team on a level. If he is allowed to spend it.

If there's one lesson I've learned over the years, it's to not talk like this when it's Newcastle.

The bloke is a miracle worker, I have never seen a harder working Newcastle team in my life time.
Why would he stay and not get backed ?
For me without him we are 100% screwed but fat mike doesn’t give a ****

With Benitez we don't even need a sugar daddy to at least compete. Just someone who allows the club to generate commercial revenue, and who employs a competent exec team, could easily see us challenging for that top 8 spot.

Imagine what we could achieve if we had a board of more than one person? If we had an actual ops, finance, commercial and managing director instead of a glorified teaboy? Imagine if we used some of the money we should be generating from sponsorships and built a decent training facility....

Sorry, I'm being a typical, over-ambitious NUFC fan once more.
