Yeah, I've always thought that myself, McNulty is the boss of the footy section there so I'd imagine he had the say about which articles get a comments section.
Looks like they sit in their Salford offices buzzing off the comments.

I can only conclude they feel a straight article without the ability to comment/troll won't be read at all.

Jürgen Klopp: "Because of a few idiots, a bus welcome may never happen again. It was an outstanding gesture what City did after the game. The atmosphere during the game was one of the best I've experienced. But what happened outside was not okay."

    Quite right.

Because in my mind.... the best bit about the crowd and smoke for the buses isn't for the opposition; it's for our players.... as you could see by the reaction of our players to it... not so much on the pitch which may or may not work just like the stadium crowd (I personally think it does) they all raved about the welcome ...

Keep it non violent and I still think the opposition bus goes wow.... feck sake even John Terry was jealous of it!

Jurgen's choice of words(due to his good but limited English)seems to have played into the haters hands.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says a "few idiots killed everything"

Nothing and nobody was killed but reading the bile on the BBC you'd think there were multiple fatalities, none of us have condoned it and the only ones that would are the friends and like minded yobs that threw the objects/missiles at the coach.

I didn't take it like that...and nobody should... he means killed the mood or intended mood...as in what the majority were trying to do...

Me neither Frank, it there had been no missile throwing the haters couldn't have taken his choice of the word "killers" out of context, but as they take every opportunity to link and tar us all with what's happened in the past and killing it was right up their street unfortunately.

IMO they should now have two routes and ban all fan groups from the opposition route. police should have an arrest policy for those congregating. Thats what these ****s have cost the real fans.

BTW.. it was premeditated to throw stuff at their bus by some as eggs where thrown. the majority of what hit the bus was eggs.

Once you start throwing crap someone is always going to one up. so some peopel really let the club down.

They couldn't close the two entrances to Anfield Rd on matchdays though mito, the turnstiles to the Anny RD end are only accessible on the road itself, they could only close the route that goes past the King Harry as far as the club gates, but supporters of home and away teams walk through park from the coaches on Priory Rd and come out on Anfield Rd not far the pub.
More police in that area are required.

it's not so much about closure as it is about separating fans who want to go look at our own players coming in and those who are after opponents bus.

i agree more police are required.

i would hope a certain level of self organisation might arise from now on.

it was a terrible idea to direct city bus in after lfc bus on same route and to advertise it will happen.

that only allowed negative.elements plan their antics.

As you know I've condemned the perps and shameful of what they did in our clubs name.....but, City decided to arrive later than the police expected, remember the Utd bus turning up late at West Ham's last home game and getting caught up in the thousands of fans around the streets near the ground?
The "welcoming" was okay against Dortmund but this week's **** shows its outlived it's usefulness, their also needs to be guidelines as to what time the team's arrive at stadiums for common sense reasons, it'd obviously beat those who have no common sense in future....hopefully.

i wonder exactly how late was the bus really. usually it's only 5 or 10 mins. I don't know.

i still think they will have to deal.with this when the Anfield road closes for the new stand and they might well create fan zones there and force people away from buses to those zone and anyone planning a welcome is then for the police to deal with.

I would guess closer to half an hour, the oppostion bus is supposed to arrive before the home team but their lateness forced the reverse order

BBC Utd are asking the question, I personally don't think it had that much of an adverse effect on their performance, their 2nd half possession game showed that, maybe the intimidating atmosphere in the ground played it's part early on.
No doubt the answers on the BBC article will say the opposite.

    "16:21
    *Beep, beep, beep*
Man City v Man Utd (17:30 BST)

    Talking of buses...

City arrived at Etihad Stadium with a more subdued welcome earlier today after that barrage of missiles at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

How much of a factor was that in the 3-0 Champions League quarter-final first-leg win for Liverpool?

Have a look a the footage from the bus before the game."

The players said it had no effect and they were on top for the first 10 minutes. PTSD kicked in after 11 minutes?

I wouldn't even give the suggestion the time of day - it's just an attempt to diminish the quality of our performance against them.
Once on the pitch and into the game, such things would be right out of their minds - a number of their players have said as much already.
The media just can't take the fact that we beat them so they have to make it look unfair in some way.
    Desperate.

Man City and Man Utd fans were fighting outside the stadium today. Probably Everton fans in disguise though...

Yeah, their local rag didn't make too much of a fuss about it though, considering its owned by the Daily Mirror like the Liverpool Echo is the Mirror allow disgusting comments in their comments section, especially about LFC and Scousers but have a no tolerance policy of such comments regarding Mancs on their Echo website.:emoticon-0105-wink:
