How good it be if we actually won the comp. After all the ups and downs of last 13 years since our last win.. would just be amazing for everyone.

Would really set us up and set a nice platform to entice better players who will see us as a real club on the up again.

and the bottle attacks were a few morons who had twisted aims too. Neither had anything to do with either club. Liverpool FC are not responsible for people in streets in Liverpool, UEFA see $$$ as usual.

Plus I've watched the videos, Salford and the media in general are making it seem far worse than it was. It's the flares that give it that apocalyptic scene and add "drama"

This game, Liverpool learnt from the previous match at Anfield with city. The way city came back in the other
game they were unable to do this on Wednesday. Tactical genius Klopp<applause><applause><applause>.

The flares made it worse but the throwing of bottles and other stuff shouldn’t happen. It was bad enough. I think of all clubs we should be very conscious of our behaviour in and around the ground. We have one of the most vocal crowds in the stadium and we create an incredible atmosphere that intimidate the opposition. That’s another reason why we should dissociate ourselves from all this stuff. We want people to see that all the atmosphere we create is within sporting and acceptable limits and not associated with violence.

That is why we should help the police and punish severely those hooligans. We should ban them for life. It is the least we could do. On a day that we produce the most remarkable performance and result of recent times the media here and abroad are talking about how Liverpool fans attack the City players coach.

I don't get why things like this turn into a debate, some Liverpool fans did something they shouldn't have and if they get caught they should be punished accordingly. They were representing the club and the club have condemned it UEFA will investigate and act accordingly if the club did something wrong.

It seems to me that at every given opportunity fans would rather talk about the politics of the game or the money aspect other than the actual football.

People keep saying that City can come back because of the 4-3. I'm not writing them off but that's a false comparison. In a one off league game any win is 3 points. 2 legs and away goals completely changes the meaning of conceding a goal (and why #bbcsalford were begging all night for a single City goal that would "turn the tie on it's head").

    Other examples of false comparisons:
    • Sevilla 3-3; the context shows that it meant nothing to concede those goals, we still went on to top the group.
    • City 5-0: supposedly proof they can score the 5 they need if we get one away goal. Again, in a league game with a bent ref down to 10 men losing 1-0 is the same as 5-0 but that doesn't mean if we concede 1 or 2 against City in the 2nd leg the players will forget they're still winning the tie on aggregate and have something to play for.

It is indeed silly to compare the league with the CL (or any 2 legged cup competition). Basically we are through or should be if we keep our composure and remain professional. There is no reason for the team to chase that away goal as we didn’t concede any on Wednesday and as long as we are ahead on aggregate the team should keep calm. I am not saying we shouldn’t score given the chance but the only time we HAVE to is if we are 4-0 behind. In which case one goal gets us through. Any lesser score we are through or in the tie.

Our 2nd half display was almost more impressive than the 1st. Complete patience and understanding of the meaning of the next goal scored. Almost worked perfectly with Mane coming close to 4-0.

It was the best defensive performance I've seen from us in many years.

That’s why it came close to the perfect performance. I remember the matches when we were well ahead and we kept an open game and let the opposition get back. At 3-0 we knew they were going to attack and try to get back in the second half. Rational and logical for the team to retreat and defend that 3-0 lead. That clean sheet is as valuable as (if not more than) any of the goals scored.

ah lads it wasn't that good.

we didn't control the game we surrendered the ball to city and fell back. They had jesus who was still missing since good friday so were no threat.

we worked hard but thats not controlling the game like real, barca or bayern do it. thats defending for your lives deep.

We've had this done to us many times by lesser sides. none of those sides controlled the game. we merely failed to score.

Great first half. second half we were poorer.

Salah going off upset midfield. windy took at least 15mins to put a foot in and come to terms with the game. this totally disrupted our team flow.

Yep 0-0 is poorer than 3-0 but I'd take us denying City a single shot on target in the 2nd leg now.

wouldn't we all... but lets not kid ourselves that a backs to wall effort is controlling a game.

theres a world of difference between retining the ball and controlling a game and defending deep with 25% of the ball and struggling to get out of own half.

I'm not denying the ability to not just concede 3 goals is great and the clean sheet is not a huge boost to our chances. I am just saying theres a big step up still there.

I don't think it was backs to wall. There was zero threat from City. The only times I was #worried was a couple of our misplaced passes out from the back.

Plus the first couple of times Sane ran at us. By the end I was cheering them giving him the ball because he could do nothing with it.

The lino denied them a perfectly good goal in that second half, so your argument sort of dies there.

I wouldn’t be too critical. It was almost the perfect performance...for us. Of course we could all agree that we were not in total control or that wouldn’t bear comparison with Barca or Madrid. But for our team, i think we can agree we surpassed expectations.
