Ray Wilkins has died

He died of a heart attack.

The title probably didn’t make it very clear.

 

I must still be blocked by Matth. I did once say that Pogba isn’t as good as De Bruyne so it’s only fair.

 

Sad loss. I liked him. He seemed like a decent bloke. I’m sure he will be greatly missed.

To be fair to him, the earlier thread was about his having suffered the heart attack and going into a coma. Matth’s thread is reporting on the death, which is new.

Perhaps we can use this thread for condolences.

 

I remember writing 'Ray Wilkins, King of all Cockneys' in biro on a restaurant billboard in Salou in 1984.

The following day Juventus knocked us out the the cup winners cup semi final on away goals. I loved Ray at that time but he soon left and that was that.

Good guy, not nearly as negative a player as was made out.
He recycled the ball and didn't give it away, if he played for City right now people would be ****ing over how he played.

Perfect for 80's Italian football as it goes.

I've just watch the video clip on the BBC Football website of Wilkins' goal in the FA Cup for United.

I'd forgotten just what a cracking goal that was.
