I wonder whether they will sacrifice a MF to look after Salah. After all player for player they are probably superior. If they nullify Salah like Young did at the mancs, then it will be 10 of their players playing their normal game against us. Who do we nullify? It will be a choice of De Bryune or Silva if we want to focus on the playmakers . Or Sane or Jesus if we want to do the scorers.

for me I think they will seek to cut off the supply to salah.

It really depends on their team shape. If they play 3 at the back using that new cb they have and pushing sane to LWB for example.

I don't think they will man mark salah as salah is most dangerous making runs in behind so you can't follow that unless you are CB.

Its between the lines where firmino is that they may try shut down the passes into salah.

For me I think debruynes and silva are their key men so rather than man mark we need to be in good goal side positions with defensive CMs and also IMO we need to hold one full back back. theres zero point trying to makr a forward out of it when those guys are so lethal.

My view is hold robertson back if TAA is picked as we might as well let the lad go as ask him to do what gomez would.

theres lots of possibilities my view is cut the supply, make it hard to keep possession and play the game at 100mph.

I'm actually feeling pretty confident that we will win...

Liverpool v Man City too close to call - Benitez
Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez fondly recalls Champions League nights at Anfield when he was Reds boss as he looks ahead to Wednesday's quarter-final first leg between Liverpool and Manchester City.

We've been out of the CL knockout stages for so long I had forgotten how it feels to play amongst the top dogs.

It will ne no shame not to go through but this should form the foundation for subsequent campaigns.

It's just wait and see. None of us know how this will go. Could be fun, might be a horror story. We'll soon find out.

    Not long now!!

Been a long time coming so as long as we give it everything we have then the result is the result and we can hold our heads high.

Would love to shock them and take a 3-0 lead back to theirs!!

I'd settle for 1-0. We will score at the Etihad, but they will probably score here. Just want to make sure we're still in it for the return leg next week.

Important information for fans: Merseyside Police statement

Merseyside Police have issued the following statement ahead of tonight's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City.

"Fans attending the Liverpool v Manchester City match on Wednesday April 4 are advised the team coaches are not taking their usual route past the King Harry pub. Due to building works and to ensure the safety of fans, they will instead travel along Arkles Lane, passing The Arkles pub before turning right onto Anfield Road."

Liverpool Football Club said: "Ensuring the health and safety of our fans and visitors is at the forefront of all our procedures. The decision was therefore taken to redirect the team coaches via a new route following guidance from Merseyside Police.

"The club is working with the police and other key stakeholders to provide a safe environment for those supporters who wish to welcome the team ahead of the match against Manchester City. We have taken additional steps to make sure the area is as safe and secure as possible, whilst working with local residents to ensure that they remain unaffected by any potential fan activity.
