'Newcastle are expected to begin life without midfielder Joey Barton, meaning Dan Gosling or Sylvain Marveaux could get a run in the team.

Shola Ameobi is a doubt, while Hatem Ben Arfa, Steve Harper and Mike Williamson are injured.

Fulham suffered a blow when John Arne Riise was carried off with a leg injury in the Europa League clash with Dnipro.

In further bad news, Simon Davies has been ruled out for five months.'

    From the beeb's preview

The bold bit is the good news - hope we get Situ in on time to fill in CB on the bench. Willo is out.

    That's bad news.

Did you see how Ba and Best played against Scunthorpe? Absolutely cringe worthy.

You know when we've got it bad when I say the followng , Shola is our best striker.

Well at the moment , would like to reassess Ba's performances after Ramadan.

And maybe Tiote will play better after Ramadan too, he hasn't had as much flack as Ba but hasn't played well either.

Should I say it? No I'm scared.

No I really won't , it could be my death wish.

OK FINE. Tiote was ****ing shocking against Sunderland , had an absolute **** game!

What's this? I've heard it mentioned quite a bit on here as an excuse for Ba being ****e and Tiote making uncharacteristic errors. Another excuse I've heard is fasting (or something like that). What's that?

It's a month in the year where all the Muslims participate in fasting meaning they can't eat or drink from sunrise until sunset.

oh right, I suppose that's a fair enough reason for poor performances. I'll give Ba the benefit of the doubt because his energy levels must be low with him not eating so maybe thats why he looks lazier than Shola!

As I said having seen Ba for WHU often, he won't change too much after he stops fasting. He's a hit and miss player and ****e at heading. Scores a lot of Nolan-esque goals though

Gosling had a poor game against (who put the **** in) Scunthorpe. Young Sammy should be given a spot on bench at least, along with Vuckic.

Agreed. Sammy and Vuckic were VERY impressive and took their chance to impress the manager very well.

Think they may have a part to play for us this season <ok>
