McCarthy is a Leeds fan, so I agree with Doc - I'd have him here for next year. He's done well with limited funds his whole career, but it would be special for him at ER I think. Even if he wasn't a Leeds fan, I think he'd still get a much better points return from the current squad than almost anyone else. The players probably wouldn't like it, but they'd up their game, because MM wouldn't take anything less than their best every week. Players nowadays may be money-grabbing disloyal sh*tehawks, but Mick is old school with a FIFO approach to management. And I'd look forward to his post-match interviews, win or lose. Fly in the ointment, would he be able to accept the DOF setup? Another thing, the Wendies will be the Wolves of next season. Rather have Mick here rather than there.
So Leeds fans looks like our upturn in form against lowly Bolton was not the recovery in form we were looking for. Yet again we were dire in the first half, but how many times does PH need to see this shocking first half form before either kicking some out or coaching/tactics. Better 2nd half but even though 2nd best all game Ekuban back to his shoddy wasteful form, Grot misses a sitter too. Pardew failed and was sacked at WBA will PH save Coleman from the sack at Sunderland because he has also been crap. Monk has saved Birmingham with 3 wins on the bounce and gets them to safety, so money well spent and ateam taken from bottom 2 to safety, whereas we have a manager who has taken us from 8th and 6 points from top 6 to 14th and a million points away. Yes the players are not good enough for promotion but we were in 8th after being top of the league and no amount of good will excuses PH for much longer. The truth is hes failed. I want to see a manager here for the long term but not sure this is the man. Wolves went theough a few to get Neves and it worked for them. Watford did it too and are still in the prem. if you are a bad coach it makes no difference how good the players are and you only need to look at Sunderland to see another bad coach with a better squad than us in the shyte. birmingham are also a better squad than us but now have a manager who can do it, it seems.
What I love the most about this forum is the people that blatantly never go and support the team that just slate everything Leeds United. Do you know what, I was proud of our team tonight, big effort against a blatantly better team, one that came down with parachute payments, an owner willing to spend and re-evolve and who should go up, but are not out of sight with a couple of years of building and a bit of luck. Would I like a better team? Of course. Would I like to be challenging for top six / two? Of course. Can I bring myself to slate the owner, manager, players at every turn? No. So many on here have nothing positive to say about our club but never put a penny towards helping it, what do you get out of it?? Anyone can read the amateur journalists websites reviews on under 18’s or 23’s and proclaim to be an expert but, the reality is, PH is the manager of the here and now, signed after the transfer window was shut and is trying to extract something from players who are limited (Berardi) or who believe they are better than they actually are (Jansson). I don’t think we’ll go up next year but think we can evolve over 2 or 3 years with a bit of youth and wise investment and am prepared to wait. Would rather do that / feel like that than pat myself on the back with posts every half an hour saying how clever I am saying for six months we are rubbish
You say a lot of what I try to say Marcos, but in a much intelligent way As I said before, I thought 2nd half we played well but lacked the finish. Beaten by a side who most thought we lose by 5/6. But we should have scored twice.....
To be honest old mate, I just don’t get the glee at the lack of our success by the so called experts. Say hi to your lads for me, true Leeds fans
Ditto Marcos That's because they probably have multi accounts and they are probably the one and the same. Off topic(how dare I) it amazes me that we are being slaughtered for going off subject on the match day thread(which is fair enough) but posters with multple accounts are let do what they want.
Spoken like a true apologist. If the players had invested 10% of the effort you have this year we wouldn’t be in this mess. There comes a point where people have had enough of chancers raping the club and profiteering from the loyal support.BTW who were you having a pop at.. Name names.
I don’t need to name names, probably three in four posts these days are either supposed Leeds fans knocking the club or a Wally talking about their form. Pretty much every one of them I would have read the day before and the day before that. That’s why I rarely come on here these days.
Regarding change of manager and players not trying and or not good enough ........ I saw no sign players weren’t trying, that seems more the comment of someone who either didn’t watch it or is just angry and wants to blame them Ditto the manager is easy to blame. The valid criticism of him is maybe we’ve slid down the table since he came. The defence would be we were sliding before he came But it’s true he’s not had a positive impact As I’ve said already I prefer to follow the money. The 4 teams with much higher market valuations are all in the top 6. Our mid table position is consistent with a mid table spend. So we need one of two things: 1. An owner (this one or another) who will spend significantly in net terms - not just spending what he gets in sales of existing players 2. As that seems unlikely, if not impossible, we’d need a manager who can get more from a team than their market value would suggest. That sort of manager probably needs a very strong say in signings, so bye bye Orta in his current role, all we need are scouting capabilities. How can we know who to get as manager? Look at reality of performances, I suggest. PH seems to get at best what the squad ought to achieve. I don’t slate him for Barnsley performance as based on their player spend they should be near the bottom. But there’s little evidence he bucks any trends. That’s true of most managers even if many on here have their favourites (MON anyone?) The two clubs who are over-performing near the top are Cardiff and (spit) Millwall. For various reasons I don’t think we’ll get either manager though I’d be interest to see how Harris did. The two mid table clubs (both above Leeds) that are over performing are Brentford and Ipswich. They have squads with a market valuation less than HALF that of those around them including ours. I don’t know anything about the Brentford manager but we do know MM is moving this summer ...... those who say he’s done nothing at Ipswich don’t factor in how little he’s had to work with That’s my thoughts, if I owned Leeds I’d not have got PH in, but from where we are now I’d try to get one of those 4 in the summer (probably MM but if I really did own the club I’d look very hard at the others as well)
Warnock said when he got Morrison he had signed a legend some legend I think that Leeds was a job to big for him and he has said it since so who have we got Potter from Sweden has done a remarkable job but can he do it at a big club I hope so but I doubt it MM to old now Pardew is finished in my opinion which leaves us with the ex Hull and Watford managerMario Silva who Everton offered £4m for this season
Let me think, I wonder who could that be, I'm sure there are some who know and I agree they should be banned
That’s what I was talking about, we tend to write people off easily and get interested in people with no track record in a comparable league By the way MM is just turned 59. I admit I’m biased given my age but that seems young to me. Remind me how old the Cardiff manager is, and how old was SAF when he retired?
