I agree with your point about honesty(the football I was brought up on was all about it), but in today's game honesty by players and managers is seen as a sign of weakness (unfortunately).
For example Mane's "honesty" to rely on the refs "honesty" to give the penalty because of the contact was wasted so he resorted to going down like a snipers target.

Sometimes honesty doesn't pay the dividends it should.

What a perfect world we are going to have if everyone is honest?.
Referees are not airways honest and players are not airways honest too.How many genuine penalties Harry Kane is going to get in a game of fair play?.

Gotta feel sorry for lallana. Will struggle to make it for the WC.

But highlights that we should look to move him on as well.

Honesty is in the eye of the beholder. The defender made contact but not enough to swipe him ff the ground. If Mane felt the contact, then decided that he could go down because he felt it not because he was taken out, is that honesty? Not in the strictest definition of the term. Gamesmanship may be. As for Mane it is sometimes good that he plays on the edge but on another day he would have received 2 yellows and sent off. How that ref didn’t send him off when he clearly grabbed the ball to stop a dangerous Palace attack, I’ll never know. Great for us but seems to confirm that our referees are the biggest bottlers of big decisions.

Great win. At this stage that’s the most important even though we were not at our best.

Also noticed that tarkowski’s shirt getting pulled highlighted by MOTD
The shirt pulling on firmino was not, remember when everyone was vilifying skrtel for it
Always find things like that strange

Bar the palace penalty decision, the ref pretty much got every decision wrong

The only person I have heard discuss this from the biomiechanical viewpoint was souness and he was spot on and had dermot squirming.
I always say I look at these on how I would feel if we had conceded it to Utd
And that one I would have expected to see a pen given
That said if they had got carded I would have pissed my sides laughing

Also the tackle on cavannagh by ndidi
Anyone notice there was barely any contact but cavannagh throws his arms up to exaggerate and delays flicking his left leg up which resulted in Ndidi seeing second yellow
    Same day - inconsistency

Right - I said I would enjoy the win last night, and complain about the performance the next day. So here I am :)

Where do I begin? Karius - should have judged the penalty incident better but that’s what you get with an aggressive keeper. He will mistime it from time to time. Other than that, he made some decent saves at crucial times.

Matip - this guy really is struggling. Bullied out of everything and positionslly so poor.

VVD - almost gifted a goal. Has to do better. But bar that, he was immense again especially considering he is single handedly bossing the defence.

    Robbo was excellent again <ok>

Mane was the pick of the attackers for me - I think MITO is being harsh. Mane was at the centre of all of our good attacking play.

Ox was a very good sub which I think changed the game.

Right - now let’s get down to the midfield. I really wouldn’t be against selling Gini this summer. The guy is just a coward who doesn’t show the ball. Last season, he could hide behind his big performances against the big teams at home. But he’s done sod all this season.

Henderson - please. The sooner we shift him, the better. He’s not a number 6. He can’t protect, he can’t screen and he can’t create. He completely bottles it when anyone comes near him and then gives the ball away. Then he will start screaming at the ref and blame someone else.

Milner - the best of a bad bunch and he has stepped up over past couple of months. Still not good enough.

With Keita coming in, we desperately need one if not two more centre mids coming in. The lack of creativity is painful to watch. The lack of being able to keep the ball and control the game is simply not good enough.

you know what gets my goat....

henderson playing blind crosses to no-one form the right channel.. he thinks somehow this is amazing but it's come off once? ever?

    Midfield was awful

    Ox came on for mane..

For me mane got a goal but otherwise he was a shocker. He should have been sent off... it's crazy stuff.

Unfortunately we won’t be shifting them on in one go. But as long as they’re not first team starters or relied up on as squad options, then we’re ok for now.

At least we played our best team and got the job done

We have a couple days to get ready for city game and at least the international disruption is at an end.

within touching distance of seasons end now.

First half was so frustrating. So many lofted balls up top. No patience to play on the deck.

Then as soon as we started playing on the deck in second half, we scored.

No need to shift so quickly, they will peak next season thanks to coming home from the World Cup early

Only if you accept the ref's initial #bentasfuck decision that climbing all over his back then kicking his ankles is legal

#reality is Palace and Swarbrick were scared of him so targeted him
