I think we will be missing Gomez in this game and Can to an extent.

    i think so.

tough game but a free one to just have a go in.

should be no pressure here on us.

I'm probably in a minority here in being happy that we are at home first. Imo if we can take a lead to the etihad then the 2nd leg will suit our counter attacking style.

    Big if though tbf.

City are without aguero today, he wont be injured on wed :(
Total free swing, no doubt we are the underdogs for this game.
Need to still be in the game for second leg.
Would love to see us get through this tie but realistically....
Sucks that gomez got injured on int duty but hey ho

I expect Can to play , though if he does the 90 is a different thing , if for no other reason than because he clearly likes games like these.
Think we need to hold TAA back a bit to reduce the space for , presumably , Sane to run into.

    i can't wait.

going to be a good one but the result is not one to weep over. it's pressure free for me so I hope our players really have a go.

I agree, but if its tight or we have a narrow lead after the first leg it will be tense for the second

Can't wait for these games. It's what football is about. Obviously, I'd love a result from Wednesdays match but as long as we're still in with a shout going into the second leg I'll be happy.

Liverpool fans are concerned about the defensive capabilities of Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of next Wednesday’s Champions League showdown v Manchester City.

The right-back, 19, was tormented in the first half by Wilfried Zaha in Saturday’s 2-1 win against Crystal Palace just a few weeks after suffering at the hands of Marcus Rashford in the team’s defeat to Manchester United.

You know what I was more happy about?

we played a full team v palace and while we are now lacking options all over the park we have our first 11.

It'd be nice is joe gomez wasn't injured
It'd be nice if can wasn't injured
It'd be nice if sturridge actually offered an option and not a wheelchair.
It'd be nice if lallan was ever fit <laugh>
It'd be nice if coutinho hadn't left but he did.

    Our team picks itself now

Options to come in are limited.

Ings, ox and lovren. thats about it.

Thankfully we had a pleasant pressure free kickabout at fat sams yesterday so we have a full squad to pick from.
Guardiola won’t change the way he sets up his teams,he doesn’t do pragmatic so we will be coming to Anfield to attack
Decisions he needs to make are whether we go 3 at the back and attack with wingbacks or a more traditional 4
Does he play Stirling who’s been intimidated each return to Anfield or does he trust him more now he’s playing with confidence
Do we go with Jesus & the greater work rate or Aguero who’s more of a goal threat?

I think we will look at getting Sane up against Alexander Arnold as much as possible so will
probably play Bernardo Silva more central rather than Raheem on the right wing and use Kyle walker for width on the right

    Ederson
    Otamendi Kompany Laporte
    Walker Fernandinho DeBruyne Sane
    B Silva Jesus D Silva

Would be my guess as a starting 11

    Should be 2 great ties
