It's amazing how wrong thoughts can be! I agreed beforehand, but it turns out that we were all wrong!!
I was gigging in Norton tonight. Listened to the first 35 on bbc newc and it sounded like we looked dangerous every time. 2-0 became 2-1 and I had to go on stage. Checked my phone part way through at 3-1 and thought I must’ve been doing some Hendrix style voodoo ****! To read this I just think it can’t be real! A win on Monday and the black cats are among the pigeons!!
John O'Shea man of the match - Well done but I still can't believe that result. Santiago Wanderers win their first home game in almost a year, I think i need to stay in Chile a bit longer...
Well done last night boys, on a great and unexpected result. If we can beat WEDNESDAY on MONDAY we could be level with Barnsley on TUESDAY. Then the lads have a good training day on THURSDAY and CC picks the right team on FRIDAY and the results fall our way on SATURDAY, things might look rosy on SUNDAY. My wife is currently looking for recipes for humble pie for me. Who says a week is a long time in football ! You've given us a glimmer of hope so don't blow it now - come on...
Well I'm certainly enjoying the moment - they don't come around that often for us, but reality check wise, does anyone realistically expect Wednesday to be as bad as Derby were? Another tough day in the office coming up.
Well I don't expect Wednesday to be anything other than Wednesday, and if we beat them I'm hoping that we get the credit that we'll probably deserve, instead of people talking about how bad the opposition were, like after last night's game
Didn’t we draw 2-2 against them at theirs? They weren’t that good that day, our defence was just up to it’s usual standard.
I'm surprised that any derby fans got to the ground in the first place, cos there's snow forecast on Monday. Anyway, good result for your boys.
Great result, I hold my hand up for slamming Coleman's selection before the game. Love had his best game for us so far, with Catts not far behind, Fletcher put himself about, and JoS getting mom. McNair made a big difference in midfield and McGeady was head and shoulders above everyone last night imo, but the joy of last night stemmed from us going for it. It's about time, too, and hopefully the penny has dropped. Derby performed last night like we have been doing all season, and this home disadvantage syndrome has to be overcome. The next game is vital - here's hoping
Our CB's were much better than theirs in this match. Kone outmuscled Jerome everytime it was required. Disregarding his shot off the crossbar, I thought Fletcher converted the least likely of his three excellent chances. Too bad though, that Gooch couldn't catch up to the ball Fletcher sent across the face of the goal. Not too impressed with Cattermole on the day. When he wasn't turning the ball over, he was conceding many, many free kicks. His man scored the goal - though I doubt he was expecting Oviedo to head the ball into the turf in the penalty area. A couple of zingers from the sky broadcast: Sunderland have conceded more goals than any team in the top four divisions of English football, and Grabbon has scored four in his last five.
I also thought that Derby looked like we have been clockstander. I thought Gooch and Honeyman were like two Duracell bunnies last night, they both put terrific shifts in. All of them played well and Camp couldn’t be faulted for their goal which was a beauty. I think Cattermole is getting fewer bookings ‘cos he can’t catch their players to foul them....only joking. I hope Fletcher gets a goal on Monday at home, it will do his confidence the world of good. I think my concern is that the performance last night has given false hope and we will revert on Monday. Fingers crossed we can carry on improving.
