I’d say the Robinson link is dubious, as he’s been telling people in footballing circles that he knows nothing. Quoting him as he departs makes me question it further. Think he’s being given the run around, but to bring some balance, I suppose people would moan if he didn’t mention what he hears. Truth or not.
Would anyone use Rick for their own ends, as a free PR man without him even knowing? That would be funny.
The latest (Dave White and CL & Twitter today) seems to be that the takeover is anything but a “done deal” - the Muir bid remains well under what Duchatelet wants - the Saudi / Arab consortium are back on the scene. Everitt is an absolute mug.
Here we go again..... Really think it boils down to RD wanting to walk away richer, plus get pay back for some future deals. Maybe the ''Saudi / Arab consortium'' fits that scenario......Who knows.?
Dave White is consistently the best source (not unsurprising..) and he says there’s a spanner in the works.
For the first time in Roland's reign we may have stumbled upon a very good manager who has the ability to rescue our season. Greedy Roland could be more determined to play hardball as a result. Only guessing.
I own up to getting carried away on the wave of euphoria, but it's understandable, considering how widely it was reported in the media that Roland was expected to offload this week. This was the third time we've been led up the garden path (assuming that it won't happen this week). So either someone is mischievously leaking fake news, or Roland is moving the goalposts. Whatever is happening, it seems wise to totally disregard any self-styled ITK stuff on the internet from any of the usual suspects. Beware of false prophets is the advice I'm taking.
As I said last week.... IF Paul Elliot was about to become Charlton Chairman then the first person to know about it would be Super NOT Elf's mate in Southend OR a Sheffield fireman!
This is a tweet from Tom Barclay who is a Journo at the Sun: Replying to @ValleyFloydFred A close source of mine said they expected it to go through this week and agreed re Kewell.
Agreed. I was looking forward to the Easter Monday home game being our first chance to celebrate the end of the Duchatelet era and our new future. Now that hope seems more likely to be premature again. Looks like all we can hope for is that Lee Bowyer keeps up the good work he has begun.
Agreed - the new owner (if true) should give Lee Bowyer a trial 9 game period to prove himself as our manager.
I accept that Lee Bowyer has made a good start. And I'm playing Devil's advocate a little with what I'm going to say next... But can't we celebrate having new owners, listen to and hopefully support their vision for a while before telling them who our manager should be and panning them for massive PR own goals? If Bowyer is replaced after one, two or even three victories as caretaker manager, will he really become a Martyr to be used by the next generation of Charlton fans who decide to set their face against the incoming regime before the ink is even dry on the take-over paperwork? I hope we are not so damaged by our experience with Duchatelet - who is a real life heartless bastard who never gave a damn about our Club - that we will immediately look for reasons to reject the new owners and declare war upon them as well. I like what Bowyer has done so far and I would love to see him given a chance by the incoming administration. But I won't give up on our chance for a fresh start and turn against them for simply deciding that they want their own man in the manager's chair. New owners do that all the time. It's practically a miracle when they don't. Let's give ours the benefit of the doubt at least.
I find it fascinating to be a fly on the wall with your predicament. It's a 50/50 situation isn't it. You have one wish so what is it to be. Sacrifice your new owner and keep your man in the manager's seat who looked a decent find at the first time of asking or do you sacrifice your new manager for the chance to have a new owner and rid yourselves of Duchatelet. Having watched your thread evolve my guess would be the manager gets it. Your story is a bit like groundhog day the way it's gone.
Ffs if we'd lost badly people would have been saying he's not good enough. All new owners will know who they want to bring in, these will be no different.
