Apologies chaps, I did not mean to cause offence to anybody here by appearing to stick up for Reams.
I know many of you have known him from his forum postings for years longer than I have, and some of you you may have encountered examples of him using language that looks racist in nature.
All I can say is that from 2015 when I joined ITTV to summer last year when I left, I did read many posted examples of Reams' hostility towards Chris Powell but I cannot recall any of them being couched in racist terms.

I appreciate that he has other characteristics which many folk find objectionable or even intolerable. He is not slow to insult people he does not like in pretty vulgar terms, and he has often posted messages which are ambiguous about violence, or even calling for it occasionally. All of this I have read for myself though it was mostly directed towards others - to my knowledge he has never threatened me, and only insulted me occasionally (probably no more than I have insulted him).


One of the things that really gets my goat in this life is loosely thrown accusations of racism.
This seems to happen more and more in these days of political correctness. A while back on ITTV several members (led by IA if memory serves) accused me of being racist because I posted that one possible reason KM failed sometimes to communicate clearly to Charlton fans was that her English, though passable for everyday use, was not good enough to allow her to convey the correct emphasis when she was trying to talk about emotive issues, where even slight misinterpretation could cause offence and hostility.

To my mind I was actually defending her against some who believed her gaffes and provocative quotes were all deliberate and she was always trying to insult Charlton fans rather than it sometimes being an accident stemming from cultural/language based differences.
But nobody wanted to hear that.
The moment I dared to point out that English was not KM's first language and that this might be part of the problem, I was a racist hatemonger etc.

I don't like being accused of racism because I won't be silenced by political correctness, and I don't like other people being accused of it for that reason either, whether or not I happen to like them or dislike them for other reasons.

Now if there is evidence that Reams has said racist things in the past, then I was not aware of that.
But on this current issue of Chris Powell, I do not like anybody suggesting that Charlton fans who do not want him to return to the Club are racists.
If that accusation has been made let's see the specific evidence to back it up.
If no evidence is forthcoming, then the accusation is unjustified and contemptible in my opinion.

Accusing anyone of racism is pretty well a free shot these days. A shame. Most people know the real thing when they see it, without red herrings being thrown in.
