What does the lad himself want? What can IH and the backroom team offer in terms of game time and development? The lad’s hardly played a handful of games. Honestly, I think it’s too soon to make any firm judgement. But I agree it’s great to see the fellow make a promising start. And yes, he will have his head turned, no doubt.
Don’t count your chickens. Remember Ian Stewart and his wonder goal for NI against Germany. I thought we had a superstar on our hands.
Debut goal for the Rs... Debut goal for NI... fair play to the lad... he has got something. Hopefully it will be for us... let's not get carried away... early days still. Paul Finney's going to be unbearable on the QPR Podcast.
Great start for the lad. The move to us has worked well for him. Look forward to seeing more of him doing so well. Still a long way to go to establish himself and develop his body and skills for the years to come. Will be all about the coaching, self-drive and application and all the rewards can come his way (many a starlet has left the golden path!).
If a good scout can spot Sterling’s potential before he’s played a first team game it’s never too early. If Smyth is an exceptional prospect (I doubt it) he will be snapped up quickly, if he has good potential and after a few more games looks like he will deliver he will go soon, if scouts are uncertain we’ll have him for a bit.
The lad is a diamond and he'll be with us for a couple of years at least. We should treasure him. I think I recall one or two people on here saying 'whatever happened to that Irish kid we signed?' Well now you know.
Very early days for him, but it's clear he's enjoying his football and I actually think Holloway has managed him well by not over exposing him. Be interesting to see how he does with a full pre season under his belt as a regular first teamer.
No, I was talking about his contract, not a 1970s bicycle of inherently unsafe but now iconic design. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t got one of those.
Breath of fresh air imo We really have a good player now and he can only get better. I said at the time he reminds me a bit of Owen when he started Hope he enjoys the time before players start doing a number on him ... by that I mean get chopped
We need to offer improved contract on long term with a sell out clause of a minimum £35,000,000. If we are going to continue as a find ‘em, train ‘em, flog ‘em club we need to start selling on our terms not the buyers terms or offers same as we did with Sterling I believe we made a tidy £9 million + on him with that sell on clause, meaning if we are going to be a selling club WE SET THE PRICE NOT THEM !!!
