    A message to ALL football fans, regardless of which club you follow;

    Blackpool Supporters Trust has recently created a government petition with the following aim;

    The Government must introduce an independent regulator for English football. We urge the Government to introduce an independent regulator for English football, charged with ensuring the highest possible standards of governance for all clubs.

    Blackpool FC has become a by-word in the football community for mismanagement and crisis, and yet after a period several years, nothing has been done. The EFL shows no sign that it understands what its leadership role in this area should be, and as it clearly can’t - or won’t - rise to the challenge, then we feel that the Government must step in to lead the process of fundamental reform that is clearly needed.

    Blackpool is not the only club in such circumstances, there are many more!!

    Football clubs are too precious and too much a part of the fabric of our national life, to be left to the mercy of unregulated and often unscrupulous ownership. They need the protection of a robust regulatory framework that offers a range of sanctions against wrongdoers, mechanisms that allow problems to be confronted before they become deep-rooted and a governing body that has the desire to use it.

    As football fans, I would ask that you join us in trying to bring about change within the game and hopefully prevent future owners from loading clubs with debt and running clubs into the ground.

    We are all fans and we should stick together to ensure the clubs we love are owned and managed properly.

    The petition can be found here – https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/213108

    Thank you all for your support and if you have Twitter, please feel free to tweet this or add on Facebook - get this message out there!!

    If you are a member of any other of your club's fans forums, please post this on there to spread the word – we, as fans, are all in this together.

    Thank you

    You are getting a bit boring now.
    If you are not interested, don't bother reading/commenting. Let others decide for themselves.

    Nah, I'll post where I like pal. As I said even if you get 100,000 which you won't it may get to discussion where they will say the FA are the regulatory body for football and that will be that. So please refer to my avatar.

    I make Ginge right. Petitions often do jack ****. Ultimately, whether any of us like it or not, the FA are the regulatory body and it's highly unlikely that will change any time soon, regardless of how many people write their signature on a form.

    Besides, Blackpool once had - and idolised - that massive ****, Charlie Adam.

    So it's a no from me.

    Make the sport gender neutral and introduce a no nasty words policy in case there's any vegans in the crowd.

    You will not be laughing if this all blows up in Spurs supporters faces, it will make you no better than Blackpool, Coventry, Leyton Orient, the list goes on.

    Where the fook does anyone get a billion quid to build a atadium at club level ina game of football. When did you win the Premiership or Champions League.

    Like all the rest, you laugh now until one day it fooking collapses quicker than a pile of lego.

    Lego is what they're using to build their stadium, that's why it's costing so much.

    Ok, we have a conversation started...

    Firstly, the petition is NOT just for the benefit of Blackpool FC - it is for ALL clubs - the EFL protect owners and are not interested when fans contact them to raise major concerns

    Secondly, "Petitions often do jack ****" well if we don't try, we will never know. However, it has prompted a meeting between BFC fans and EFLl at EFL's request https://www.efl.com/news/2018/march...blackpool-supporters-groups-and-stakeholders/

    During the meeting, it became painfully obvious that they do not understand their own rules!!

    It’s not as if we’re paying the full price in one lump sum. The stadium will be paid off over 10/15/20 years. I’m not saying it’ll be easy but at a time where money in football is at unprecedented levels and with an extremely shrewd businessman in charge, I’m not worried about any potential collapse.
