was just thinking that barton could be our most high profile signing ever.at 26 i dont remember the good ole days of rodney bowles etc but certainly in my life time.i mean weve had sir les,sinclair etc but they were nothing when we signed them

The signing of Tony Currie was a bit special. I think I was about 15 years old. I don't recall being too excited about Leon Clarke.
Frank McClintock, Dave Webb, Kenny Sanson, Sammy Lee, Trevor Francis, Peter Reid, none in their prime, but all bigger names and for the right reasons.
I remember Sansom signing and whilst his career had peaked he was still a coup. Tony currie signing back in the day was a big deal. Now lives just around the corner from me funnily enough
Peter Reids prime was about 83/84 and he signed for us in 89. Barton is quality. One of the best Central Midfielders in The Premier League. We wouldn't of got anywhere near signing him had it not been for his reputation. Warnock has his work cut out with him, but tame him and we've signed an absolute diamond.
