I wonder how much of Reunionism can there be. Last played in early 70's Chillo , Didn't He?. Great Idea thou.
Still our all time record goal scorer. We are expecting up to 40 ex-Hull City players to turn up and show their respect , probably more and obviously not all of them played with Chris Chilton but all have great respect for the best centre forward ever to wear the black and amber.
Not wanting to seem argumentative , Its just Not on here in current form thou as you indicate. Its clearly stated for Pm use only.
Great night. It felt like we'd got the old City back. Lots count of the stars present, but I will try and list them anyway. Simmo Houghton Waggy Mally Lord Skipper Whittle Greaves Lowthorpe McEwan Steve Wilson Palin Olsson Saville De Vries Deere Boothy Big Billy Windass Marwood (all sat at same table chatting and all interviewed separately on stage) Johnny Whitely (warmly received and spoke very well of our club, didn't need to come and make the effort but he did- great effort on his part) Sure there were plenty of others I didn't recognise or didn't see, it's a big dark venue and there were a lot of people there. Great credit to Jeff B and Gary C for organising this and raising the money. Lot of love for the club as it used to be- united, welcoming, friendly, uncomplicated and connected to the local community. Hopefully similar events in the future?
Excellent turnout and hopefully plenty of money raised for one of my heroes. Some will remember John McSeveney. He was one of the oldest ex-players interviewed, making his point about providing the crosses for Chillo to score. Big Billy Whitehurst came across really well and had such admiration for Chris. Plenty of comment, not just from David Burns, about lack of connection between club and fans, Brian Marwood was one who expressed this well. The whole evening, while a great effort, made me sad for a great man and player I used to idolise as a kid but also for the club I used to love.
Marwood was class and spoke very well of the club, the city and the fans. If it ever goes titz for him at New Maine rd, would be good to get him back here. Would be nice to get Stuart Pearson back involved at some point too...Chillo's successor.
I wish I could have been there, would have taken me back to the days when we used to rub shoulders in the Cave Bar at the Hotel Eden with Simmo, Jarvis and others on a Saturday night after the game.
I met a City fan from Huddersfield last night and I believe he may post on here. If he does will you please pm me with your address and I will send you what we were talking about. Great night by the way, Excellent turnout, very well supported, well organised, nice to see and speak to Simon Cawkill too who made the effort to support us, and I met my first ever Hull City 'hero' John 'Jock' McSeveney. This club's heart is still beating strong, especially on nights like last night.
Sounds like a great night. Wish I'd gone. Like you say these things remind you what it was like supporting City. I'm sorting attic out and going through over a thousand City programmes that were up there. So many memories on the City rollercoaster. The Allams can't take those away
Also would have liked to have been there. Jogged my memory of Saturday nights at the Ferguson Fawsitt in Walkington and seeing Chris Chilton and others in there.
Doubtful if CC will know of the gathering in his honour last night- a real shame. His family certainly appreciated it.
