can anyone shed any light on why it is we are not in talks with this guy. He seems something of an enigma. Jol has said before now that he is the best finisher he has worked with, mmm. Dembele claims he is one of the best players he has played with, mmm. It seems he is surplus to requirements at ajax, mmm. Why on earth is he not wearing a fulham shirt ow. He sounds exactly what we need. I can only assume we cannot afford his wages, or do not agree with ajax's valuation, or that jol had him at spurs and feels he cannot cope the premiership. I heard blackburn are sniffing around, so if we are going to act, some haste maybe required. Coyw
I read that a move to Blackburn for £2.5m is being talked about. That's certainly within our price range - like you, Froggy, I can't see why the club isn't making something happen on this one. Of course, we're not privvy to what may be going on behind the scenes, but I would have hoped for some news by now.
According to news papers, Blackburn and Lille are the candidates for him. I believe that Fulham didnt agree to Ajax' valuation. Do you know why Ajax want to get rid of him?
Clubs wanting to get rid of players always worries me. Generally there are only a few reasons: a) He's a trouble maker, which can be put up with if he's a talent (like Gary Neville) but not if... b) He's got two left feet (or right feet, if he actually is left footed) or, c) He's made it plain he wants to go and if he doesn't get his way then refer back to point a It would seriously annoy me if Blackburn signed him and he banged in 15 odd goals for them over the season. Mind you if he flopped completely I would take great pleasure in pointing and laughing at him.
Hi Ain't been on for a few days and seen this and thought i should comment. I read this article in march/April this year it gives a nice sum up on what happened behind the scenes. http://worldofajax.wordpress.com/2011/03/11/ajax-and-mounir-el-hamdaoui-unhappily-married/
Interesting, Craven. If the article is right, then El Hamdaoui might be more trouble than he's worth. On the other hand, the comments section on the article seems to universally disagree with it. Jol is probably best placed to judge how the player would fit in, having worked with him before. I guess that if we sign him, Jol must think he will fit in; if we don't, maybe the likes of me should stop complaining about it!
Craven this makes for interesting read. Although he does not like being benched, and lets face it no player does, the this article does seem to make some interesting points: Whilst Jol was manager he was major asset. Some of the comments stated he was as good if not better than suarez. He was player of the year in 2008 in Holland. My feelings are that we NEED this guy. I can only assume that Jol cannot guarantee him first team football and that he would rather wait for a club that can. If he is a good as he seems then may be a few sacrifices need to made. Captain is right though, if anyone is in a position to judge him then it is MJ. What are anyone's thoughts for tomorrow ? Will be a tough game, St James park is a hard place to get a point. That said, no Barton, could be a weakness for them. Guttuirez is quality though and will cause us problems. I hope we can get an early goal to give us confidence and then who knows ? COYW
I said before the Dnipro game on Thursday, we would draw that or lose 1-0, and then win 3-0 against all the odds on Sunday. I stand by that in the face of all contradictory logic.
His scoring record in the Dutch league is great although they get more time on the ball. Would be good to have another option though!
If we were going to sign him, we'd have signed him months ago when we were first linked. I'm sick of speculating on transfers, I just want us to sign someone. Now.
