regardless of how a crash occurs, don't drink and you reduce extra risk
it's a scientific fact that response times lower even with 2 pints in

and it's a total ****s move to risk other people due to your own ****ness

There's loads of piss heads around West Hull villages that wouldn't give a seconds thought jumping in a car pissed up and driving.

well if bullets had no speed they'd do no damage, if cars travelled at 5mph, they'd do no damage or lose control
so technically, speed is responsible for 98% of crashes:1980_boogie_down:

Science shows even one pint affects your ability to drive, I believe that over what a copper said.

The limit is fine where it is we just need to make the punishment more severe. I see footballers most Saturday nights get I'm cars drunk near me (Not Hull), as they couldn't give a **** they would rather take the chance of getting caught then inconvenience themselves and get a taxi. That attitude is what we need to rid society of.

    I love a drink, but don't touch a drop if I drive.

Really? " The first person killed by an automobile was Bridget Driscoll (UK), who received fatal injuries when she walked into the path of a car moving at 4 mph (6.4 km/h), as it was giving demonstration rides in the grounds of Crystal Palace, London, UK on 17 August 1896".

Theres an opinion that using a mobile phone whilst driving is far more dangerous than driving with a couple of beers inside you, I personally agree with that, I’ve sometimes been on my phone and can’t recall any of the journey I’ve been on whilst taking, hands free but still, I’m trying to make the effort not to do it now because I recognise my driving is definitely impaired while I’m on my phone.

And don’t get me started on the amount of women driving on Hedon Road fiddling with their hair or bastard texting

And there are loads of ****s in Hull and everywhere else who go on about drink driving who have a spliff or snort white powder who drive and have no idea how long it stays in their system impairing their judgment and ability to drive.

Careful, you'll get the 'druggies' all agitated and uncomfortable. But I agree, it all comes under the same category.

Opinion? Just because it's more dangerous doesn't make the other one okay both should be banned.

I don't use my phone when driving even on hands free as I agree I've done it before and it was dangerous to other road users.

Oh well, a copper told you it.

Case closed, everyone go out and drink 2 and a half pints then jump in your car.

Erm yeah, it does. The braking distance between 30mph and 40mph, or say 70mph and 90mph, increases significantly. More so in the wet.

It’s the entire reason that speed limits - not guides - were introduced.

And that’s also the reason why the drink drive level is a limit too
Of course drinking a couple of pints, or still having a couple in your system, affects your driving. There’s been a decision as to what the limit is, which seems reasonable to me.
So whether you’re a brilliant young driver with great reactions, or a poor older driver with slower reactions, the limit means both are affected a minimal amount so the overall risk on the road is kept roughly the same

To suggest everyone that has caused a crash through drink was completely pissed is complete nonsense. The copper was an idiot (or a liar...or a drink driver who was trying to justify it to himself...or all three)

Anyone caught drink driving should be banned for life from driving as a complete minimum. There isn't a single justifiable excuse for it.
