    1. Survived major surgery aged 18 months for a large tumour in my chest that local docs advised was inoperable and terminal. Thankfully born in a British Colony and had surgery at Guys Hospital courtesy of a Mr Donald Ross.
    2. Started school as a non English speaker and now rather better at it.
    3. Qualified as a professional and my primary school teacher declared, "I never thought he had it in him". Hmm, who lacked the vision?!
    4. Was running for a bus and ran in front of a car which hit me. Rolled over bonnet Bond style, had the forethought to pick up the innards of my broken watch, picked myself up, kept running and caught the bus.
    5. Sat negotiating with a distressed man who produced a cigar case and stated that it was a bomb he could explode if we upset him. Not convinced it was but who knows?
    6. Met Princess Anne. My job was to demonstrate an IT system to her. I found her thoughtful and intelligent (though probably well briefed too).
    7. Got married aged 21 and still happily married to same woman 37 years later. Being a Grandpa is INCREDIBLE!
    8. Cycled from London to Holbeach in Lincolnshire in one day with no training. In my youth and paid the price with a sore rump.
    9. 'Ran' the London Marathon in the 25th Anniversary Year. Would love to report a sub 4 or even sub 5 hour time but it was sub 6! More importantly raised £15k for three charities important to me and my wife.
    10. Drove at 120 mph down the A3. REALLY STUPID thing to have done as would have led to automatic ban and possibly a custodial sentence which would have ruined my own life and those around me too. The arrogance, madness and sheer imbecility of youth.

I get stopped for speeding quite often over here but have always been let go with a warning when I show them my British Driving license.

    Ex-female officers, or female ex-officers?

I'm wondering just how interesting that course may have been....

Do you ever get the feeling when you post something that's not funny and you think that was stupid? `As long as you think it's funny Durbar then that is fine. <doh>

Yeah but France has many faults and you try and make out that it is paradise when clearly it is not. I love France but I can also find it very frustrating and anal.
A good example was the day I went to an ex-pat amateur dramatics performance in a school hall. The evening was marred by 30 gendarmerie waiting in the streets outside to breathalyze families as they drove home. they knew about the show and deliberately targeted these families because they knew wine would be served at the show. Sadly the police in France are quite naff.

Why do you complain that police ticket people for breaking the law, whether it's drink driving or going 1 mph over the speed limit?

I don't I complain when they pick on easy targets like motorists while really criminals are getting away with real crimes but if you believe the police are better used to hide in bushes with a camera than walking past your house protecting you and your family then that's your opinion.

So you think the people who kill people because of speeding or dwi aren't real criminals.

Do you want a 5 minute argument or a 10 minute argument?

I can think of an answer but I don't see the point. All you are doing his hijacking something I was discussing with DT regarding a driving awareness course and turning into your own little thing. Was it because I said something on another thread that made you look stupid or upset you?
Funnily enough, this thread is about things people have done. You have added nothing other than questioning Sooper on his 'Reef' answer and me on the police. Rather than being critical of people put down your 10 things or jog on. Surely you must have done something you cant be that much of a boring muppet :emoticon-0148-yes:

That wasn't 5 minutes just then. And I don't want you to argue in your own time.

If you want to just discuss with DT then do it privately, but you do bitch and moan a lot on here and get upset when people question your views. If you don't want me to read your whiny posts put me on ignore.

It wasn't interesting Willy and it has still got me ranting even today. They honestly think that people in the UK drive at no more than 70mph on our motorways. I have to let it go i know but it's one thing to get nabbed for 4mph over ... hands up that is still wrong 4mph does make a difference!

But to then get lectured by two ex females has done my nut in. They even said that cyclist are allowed to ride two or more abreast

I think that they were once females but the officer chip implants may of altered their DNA. They may well be a new breed
