Think they could all be off the way the weather has turned.

If racing here goes ahead - Limerick 350 Bracklin Princess 16/1 ew - now lower in weight than when 2nd over course and distance last year and has some good speed.

If Lingfield only, then I will go with Caledonia Laird at 220.

One for me tomorrow and is a little bit of a stab in the dark because it's been off for just over a year and is having its first run for a new yard. Was running pretty well when last out, knocking on the door and possibly looking like it's turn was due. So speculative ew on Santadelacruze 18/1 in the 5:25 Lingfield.

I'd intended to go to Lingfield tomorrow. I agree with Stick that it will probably be on, but my local roads are starting to look iffy and I may decide against. The object of the expedition was to back the callipygous Megan on Cliffs of Dover, but that's starting to get priced up as if it was a certainly, which it isn't.
Connoisseurs of west country see-no-evil stewarding may remember Planetoid, who also runs in the 3.25 - that was the horse AP rode when Mattie Batchelor's 'car broke down' in circumstances that weren't suspicious at all.

That's a brave shout of yours, Smokey: stall 14 over 10f at Lingfield would be a major test for a very inexperienced jockey. Unless, of course, it's really Serena Brotherton riding it and 'Cheyanne White' is just a pseudonym they picked at random from a Dulux colour chart.

Big call that one smokey. Horse starting out for a new yard after a year off and has never won off a break.
I try to avoid amateur races but you got me looking at this one and in the end had to have a bet. I love my discipline!
KRISTAL HART at 16's for me.

BTW rainer. Dont you just love that Planetoid is starting out for a new trainer....just happens that she is the old trainers wife!

Is actually ‘pre’ trained a couple of miles away from me just while the trainer - finishes her license - Used to ride there every week a year or so ago but have ridden there a few times this winter (never him tho) They have had him for a few months now and will hopefully be winning Howver it is all about giving the jockey her first professional ride and with some luck could scrape a place!

I see Ricci now has a horse with Nicky! I know he had one with Buckley but this is actually running in the famous pink and yellow spot silks! Good to see him spreading some horses over here and hope he has some more!

Being a quiet day I thought I'd bring to your attention the piece written by the bookie Geoff banks, Cheltenham, the bookies view. In my opinion he's bang on the money and should be debated on here to save our sport. Maybe someone could put it up, I'm a half wit sorry

Nicky?!? Nicky?!? Since when did you 2 become acquainted on first name terms! Rich Richtea, the heir to the biscuit tin fortune, spoken off like a barked command to the butler in contrast! Which is probably fitting.

Yep, previously they had Newsworthy (who ultimately wasn’t but he did win 2 minor events for the Lieutenant) in shared ownership. Newsworthy, incidentally, now with the wonderful monikered trainer, Mrs Love, and almost won at Wexford on Saturday.

    Palixandre cost €100,000 apparently.

Meanwhile, my regular readers were Ebullient with a capital ‘E’ on the eve of Cheltenham when Cliffs of Dover (some even broke into song) won on the level off 64. Raised to 71 today you would expect him to go in again. As I said 2 weeks ago I’m sure they want him raised to a level so that later in the term he can get in rich events like the ‘Ascot Stakes’ and ‘Ces’. Agree with Rainer though that Cliffs of Dover has gone rather short and not really a betting proposition today as a result.

    Good luck all.

Is this the piece??? http://vgtips.co.uk/geoff-banks-on-cheltenham-2017/ Only thing that Mr Google highlighted when I put in what you said.

Haven’t I voicing much the same thing for a few years now though (especially re almost everything focussed around 4 days and the ‘new’ races diluting the quality of the Festival) and getting continually shouted at for saying it?!? To change things people (especially the racing media) have got to take Cheltenham on instead of continually fawning all over the Executive. Until this happens nothing will change from this ‘cosy’ (especially for Cheltenham) environment NH racing current resides in.

Banks is out of order though calling the Rich Richtea, the heir to the biscuit tin fortune, approach ‘a cancer’ on the sport. A far less severe word should have been employed. He’s got his opinions but ‘cancer’ should not have been used.

Thanks for putting it up barney. He's not having a pop at the festival imo he's having a pop at professional gamblers who don't give a **** about the sport as long as they show a profit which is easy with the massive turnover. He also talks about the collusion of the supermarket bookies and the big training operations who dominate the sport. The small owners and trainers who turn their horses out regularly are struggling to make ends meet and they are the heartbeat of the sport.along with all of us enthusiasts who support the sport all year long not just for a week in march and June

Geoff Banks is an absolute **** stain, owners and trainers can run what horses however or whenever they want, a punter is giving a racecard you look at what's running and try pick the winner, not backseat training telling owners and trainers this horse should be running here or there

Not too sure which is worse here....Walter Mittys reference to cancer, or Auroras **** stain!!!
At least you can get rid of cancer...the **** stain may prove a bit more problematic.
    Perhaps Walter can enlighten us?

Hmmmmmm, I dont know much about Geoff Banks but what I do know is that these high profile trainers (especially Mullins and Henderson) royally led punters up the garden path this year with the will he run here, will he run there sagas. The Douvan saga and the Altior injury scare were nothing short of farcical and at times probably fraudulent.
Whilst on the subject of Festival declarations. Some friends of mine had a horse entered in the Grand Annual but the beast failed by two to get in. On the day two horses were withdrawn with the reason given "unsuitable ground", I dont think the ground changed one iota from Thursday to Friday so why were they not pulled out on Thursday to give the reserves a run.
Finally, a horse was withdrawn on the morning of its race on Wednesday when I knew and told people the Wednesday before that it was not going to run. Any ideas why it may have appeared in the overnight declarations? I am sure you can work it out.
These farcical declarations and will they wont they sagas are all perpetrated without a single care for us punters. You may feel that they can do as they please as they are their horses and they pay the bills but ultimately racing only exists because of the huge betting industry.
Just a little footnote. Two trainers were fined during the meeting for "not declaring their horses non runners in a timely manner". In one instance the horse had arrived back at its yard in Ireland the night before!
