puts up 9 horses, one winner, 2nd fav in the gold cup with another pick in the same race despite it never being in doubt, now giving it major licks
Well done mallafets, how did you find that one? It's Mohaayed actually. The gelding had no known form in such extreme ground conditions, and the trainer would have preferred to have withdrawn him, but the owner(s) said might as well leave him in and see what happens! Bridget got jocked-off (ahem, cough) by her fiancée from the stable companion that eventually finished 6th, as we now know. As Chaninbar pointed out earlier, horseracing can be damn near impossible for the poor old punter sometimes, so, again, well done to you! In passing, and after the excitement of the 4-day Festival, found it hard to sleep last night so doodled around with the translator things. Mohaayed is just about the horse and Bridget Andrews, but Mohaayid is mildly 'interesting'. Tried Arabic and Farsi (Persian) and the only translation I could get was that it meant "Neuter-Gender" (apt for the horse?), Transvestite, or Gay/Lesbian, etc. Wouldn't for one minute think that the owners had those things in mind when naming the animal?
Oh I say, Fenster, "Ostensibly Recherché" now, that's really upmarket? What will you rename yourself after Royal Ascot this year? "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie"?
Managed a small profit on the festival thanks to good old Paul Nolan with Discorama e/w @ 33/1, saw it pretty late but he never usually sends em over for nothing, unlucky not to win, winner just did not stop, was up with Shattered Love but went pretty hefty on North Hill and had North Hill for about 4 or 5 acca's returning £500. Happy to lose just wanted him to be ok after the fall though but sadly not the case. So horrible lose/lose on both fronts the latter more. Placepot would of been nice yesterday, £22 monday, £30 tuesday, £90 wednesday..... £32,000 yesterday First festival i aint been too in about 7 years, was good to spend it on here with you guys though (still took the week off work), normal service resumed next year for a few days there
Yep...please refer to numerous posts on the cheltenham ante post thread...just had a small each way saver on our duke in the hope it would place which was sensible play but it was never in doubt the result.
Absolutely true, Reebok! Never had such problems when I was working. I had better re-join the nearby Yoga group, and maybe my old Sunday morning 'early pint' (Frühschoppen) mates. Found it hard to keep up with the latter lads after a while, but I could try again, I guess. Might bloody well kill me though. Will try and behave myself and cut-down the nonsense. I promise!
Poor week punting wise and only saw any racing yesterday. I thought the Gold Cup was superb with Might Bite running an absolutr cracker - unfortunately, for those of us who backed him, Native River ran an even better race. Bring on the Lincoln and the Dubai world cup!
Well what a week, some cracking performances. The way the week planned out can’t see many English trainers heading over to the Dublin Racing Fez any time soon! Bar Hendo it’s extremely slim pickings for the hosts...Interesting how many different owners Mullins had winners for, used to be the old complaint about Ricci dominating the game, not the case now, think Mullins six winners were all for different owners...Gigginstown leaving him hasn’t really hurt them too much then (and great to see a spread of owners having Cheltenham winners with the GOAT too). Personal highlight was Presenting Percy, complete and utterly dominant. Has to be right at the head of any lists for Gold Cup glory, as brilliant as Native River was, it’s just nigh impossible to get back to defend the race, never mind win it back to back. Best Mate was an awful long time ago.
Presenting Percy beat a non stayer who ran with the choke out in a bog in an event lacking any sort of depth at all, more likely to be a Cooldine than a Denman or Bobs Worth and you could see him off his feet in a good ground renewal. That said, this year shows yet again that its a very shallow division, Footpad 4th in the betting . Anyone backing him as 6/1 fav needs strict sanctions imposed by the proverbial zulu council.
Thought Monalee was a world beater till he got stuffed?! Non stayer my arse, has won over 3m in soft before so no ones buying that nonsense. Percy’s a dual Fez winner so clearly loves the place whose ground versatile and will stay, a second season chaser to boot whose improving at a rate of knots. Wouldn’t be laying him myself.
Ive never claimed Monalee to be anything special, hes just a horse ive always liked, thats twice hes came up short for me on the big day now. If he wasnt in the race id have been on the winner 100%, strongly considered a ton at 11/4 before it went on Monalee 4/1. Loyalty won over rational in this case. I dont believe that Presenting Percy would have won the Flogas, but the 3m at Cheltenham in heavy ground clearly suited him much more than it suited Monalee and as I said, I refuse to believe a lot of the form this week, think the conditions and run styles heavily exaggerated winning margins in a lot of the races. Its hard to knock Presenting Percy on what hes done but hes won a handicap in mid140s and won a 2 horse race with a dream trip and circumstances against his only rival, lets see what he does in open grades 1s next year, Our Dukes form suggests he has a mountain to climb.
Your argument on ground kind of falls into ****e when you see how he hacked up on good at last year’s Festival matey
Yes when thrown in off 145 in handicap.... You said it yourself the night before, heavy ground. Just click the ground column on his rp page and look at his 4 worst results. gd gd yld gd
If he was a mud lark he wouldn’t have won off 135 never mind pretty much carrying top weight. Don’t make the mistake you often make, this is an absolute legend in the making. Pat Kelly is a god. There’ll be statutes of Percy cropping up around towns and villages throughout these isles. Races will be renamed. Willie Mullins will kneel down on his knee once he hears the mere mention of the beast. Gordon Elliott will pause and ponder for an extra minute what he’s having for his second dinner of the morning if the horses named is muttered in hushed whisperings thoughout Co Meath. Chapman thinks Samcro is the horse from the heavens, it’s really the creature hacked up after him that is. History is in the making here.
Hes decent but 9 wins from 17 and hes only run in 3 G1s, 2 of them bumpers and a freak once in 50 years bog RSA. His record in graded races is 1 from 3 in G2s and 1 from 3 in G1s. Hes been given weight and a beating by a gold cup alsoran. But the market appears to be falling for that exaggerated visual impression.
