Hi all, with recent European results not going your way will this have any effect on the Champions league positions which are given to the SPL. Genuine question, not a WUM
Ironically, next season the SPL winners go straight into the CL group stage. The season after though, we have to start our qualifiers before the previous seasons CL final (just about).
In 2 years time we will still have 2 CL places but the SPL winners will have 2 qualifiers and the 2nd placed team will have to play 3 qualifiers starting in June.
Next season I would say the team that gets into the group stage will have to qualify for the knockout stages of it. We will need representation in the europa league as well, or else the coefficients are going to drop even more. I'm not looking forward to the season when Rangers UEFA Cup final run doesn't contribute to the coefficiency.
Who mentioned Rangers? The leagues with the best fair play points gets an entry into the europa league - the entry is the team who finishes top in that leagues fair play award.
