    Baron Kinnock?

    Kinnock.jpg

The style of that speech is vaguely familiar - written by IncorruptibleAddick perhaps?

    I’m not making this up...

Topman have today withdrawn their “96” T shirt range based on something by Bob Marley...after complaints of offence being caused by ......Liverpool fans

Whatever next in order to keep the National Centre of Victimhood happy ? All people born in ‘96 to be euthanised ?

    Pathetic.

I wonder if Juventus fans go on about the 30 odd fans that died at Heysel. (They don’t)

I did wonder what that '96' reference was on those shirts.

The shirts are red and they do look (from the back anyway) a bit like a football shirt.
The white number does look a lot like the number on the back of a footballer's shirt.
There is also an image of a flower I think (a rose?) intertwined with the numbers.
Flowers are used as memorial tokens.
Under the number was the phrase "what goes around comes back around" or something like that. Pretty ambiguous.

I can understand how these things put together might be perceived as a reference to the Hillsborough disaster.
If people thought Topman were trying to cash in by using Hillsborough as a fashion gimmick I can fully understand why they would be upset.

If the number, the flower and the phrase are something to do with Bob Marley, then that connection certainly passed me by.
Would anybody else who was not familiar with Marley's life and music get that reference?
I would guess that if a random sample of UK shoppers were asked, more would make the Hillsborough connection than the Bob Marley one.

Whether or not it was intentional these shirts do look to me as if they are referring to Hillsborough.
Political correctness is out of control these days, but in this case I think Topman has made a mistake, albeit presumably an honest one.

Baroness Brady has apologised in The Sun today for the sorry state of West Ham United and the debacle of their new stadium.

Not apologised to the West Ham fans.
Apologised to the Club's corporate associates and sponsors, and the yuppie football tourists she doesn't want to lose.

Live EFL football tonight on Sky: Doncaster Rovers V Bradford City.
If Bradford win Charlton drop to 10th place.

    EDIT:
Credit to Doncaster, a home win sees them virtually safe.
And that's just about the end of Bradford's play-off hopes this season.
I thought they would do better.

Simon Jordan on Talksport this morning warned West Ham fans not to protest too much, because the Premier League is negotiating a world wide TV deal, and scenes of fan trouble inside the London Stadium might frighten off potential investors.

yeah, like the Hammers fans are going to care more about lining the Prem's pockets than they do about their own Club.
