I agree with your sentiments, but in a results based job I think being cautious initially is ok. Sparky knows what its about and hopefully will be motivated by it and then if he does well, then is the time to give him the backing and show he's valued. If he wins then hopefully the fans will show him he's valued
Just noticed on a forum that 75% of Saints fans said they didn't want Hughes. No, 75% of people who responded to a poll said they didn't want Hughes....negative people are more likely to bother to respond. Neutrals won't bother and fewer people with a positive opinion bother to vote. I know we love polls (alright I do ), but they only have value if you chase the opinion of a randomly selected group of fans. NB Polls that agree with my view are of more value.
No manager would ever be appointed, because fans have delusions of grandeur and seem to believe that if you want to work here, you aren't good enough.
I would have stuck with Pellegrino before hiring Hughes. Fight me. Also would have preferred just using a caretaker manager if we felt Pellegrino had to go.
If rumours are correct Hughes may be a caretaker manager. There's no one at the club who could manage us for the rest of the season.
