Nice enough start to the week with Footpad demolishing what looked a quality field. Thankfully had a nice saver on Benie des Dieux under a vintage Ruby to more than cover the Apples Jade stake and my oh my how good was Patrick Mullins on Rathvinden?! Just brilliant, one of the best rides you'll from an amateur round there. As Declan Rix said on twitter it was a bigger creep than Harvey Weinstein <laugh>

    Cheers Patrick!

Thats about as good a day one as you could wish for, both the handicap winners and two bullets dodged.

Hes the first back to back winner since Hardy Eustace and every chance of becoming the first since Istabraq to win 3 which is what I predicted after last year. Hurricane Fly beat Peddlers Cross a length in one of his but we dont knock him for that. Wasnt vintage Buveur Dair today, probably ran around 5/6 pounds below his best but id expect youll see a better horse on decent ground at Aintree.

NTD should be in stocks at Temple Guiting being pelted with rotten food and everybody free to kick his arse. Surely to God that finish would have involved The New One in those conditions.

I don’t really disagree with you Boris. He’s the best of this lot. My only caveat to his successes is he’s clearly up against a very low quality set of Champion Hurdle horses. I’d love to have a piece of him.

Yes, can’t quite understand why you’d not divert him when the snow and rain came last week. He’s not winning yesterday but I expect he’d have been far more competitive than he will be in the Stayers
