I haven't watched highlights yet and during the game I couldn't call it honestly as I'm too emotionally involved. During the game I didn't see any deffo pens for us. Utd defended well and lumped two balls forward and scored from them. We were toothless and needed more creativity in the middle. Luckaku was very good as was Rashford. Young also played well vs Salah. Plenty of footy left but we could do with winning the next game.
I think both of us need a good few additions in the summer if Man City are to be challenged. Your still in need of another centre half, as today just proved how easy it is to get round VVDs aerial ability. You just target the other centre half. I think your also needing a midfield player, wether Keita is the man that can bring more creativity to your midfield we'll have to wait and see. I think you also need of an out and out striker, as we seen today that when teams just sit back against you, you just don't have the answers. I think you sometimes need a more powerful striker, who can bully the oppositions centre halfs and create space for the likes of Salah and Mane. City can get away with playing a small striker upfront, but that's because they have genuine world class midfield players who have the creativity. But when you don't have the likes of De Bruyne and Silva, you have to find another way through.
I agree up to the striker bit, Firmino was working hard today and isn't a small striker, he regularly challenges centre backs in the air and through Shielding the ball as well as being a goal threat. I posted stats in a recent thread, he's 1 goal behind Lukaku in all comps and now has 3 more assists after Lukaku's assist today. Creativity wise though yes, he was isolated and needed the midfield to do more, Keita will help but he's still not the answer. The only positive I can take from today is that this is probably the closest we've been to you man for man in a long time and it showed as it was a contest throughout, Jose was the main factor today.
I'm not comparing Firmino and Lukaku's goals and assist stats, I'm just saying both players have different strengths and weaknesses. I just don't think it is Firmino's strength to be playing as a lone striker in a game like that, where as I think that type of game would suit a more powerful striker for you guys. I know Firmino isn't small, but he's hardly a powerful striker is he? He has little chance of getting the better of Bailly or Smalling in an aerial duel. Look at the way the likes of Rashford and Mata fed off Lukaku today, Lukaku causes problems with his size and physical presence which then creates space for the pacey wingers like Rashford to score. I'm not saying to drop Firmino, as he can play in midfield or on the wings, I just think sometimes you need more power up front. It's not against the Klopp philosophy to use a big man either, as he had Lewandowski at Dortmund. Funnily enough he's available in the summer, but i reckon he'll be off to either PSG or Real Madrid.
Youngy holding onto Salad for a second as the ball floated over. Klopp the ***** making out like it was close, if Bailly hadn't scored an OG, they'd have went back to the rat pit wondering if they'd ever score against us again.
Liverpool were crap yesterday, The press and media oferhyped their front 3 personally, They did nothing.
Just watching motd, Pogba coming into Jose's interview. That puts the lies to bed then. Big Club Mentality
Just seen the West Ham pitch invasion. They are a club in big trouble and the fans are at boiling point. And I thought things were bad at Arsenal ...
