Not good enough, Freddie should have started, sums up our weaknesses. Just no desire or tactics to win!
Started brightly, and faded, and just no attacking flair, pressing them, score bore draw. Am I going to head up Suffolk this Spring? Nope.
And what he says is right, too many defensive players on the pitch. 3-4-3 is really how we should be setting up if we want to win points. Waghorn was hopelessly isolated again today.
It's not about formation for me. We used to play 532 effectively under Burley and I believe Royle also. And they were certainly attack minded teams. It's all about tactics and the message of intent you get from the manager. I could only listen to highlights of the match on BBC and I don't think they really even went to Portman road except at the end of the match when the match summariser said the crowd were woken from their slumber when Sheff Utd hit the post in a dull match. Shows you how dull it is when Ipswich fans who've been to the match said it was one of the more entertaining games at home recently.
Yeah proper collapse from Norwich! 4 pens in that one too! Another dull home performance, just hope Hull reached their peak today and will be poor Tuesday. If we can win that one this won’t seem so bad. Mick seemed pretty adamant that we had to set up that way to not get beaten today.
Play offs look beyond us. Any faint hope we had just seems extinguished because we just cannot win enough games, simple. Negative tactics again today, when it wasn't warranted. We had eight defensive-minded players on the pitch and Luke Hyam coming off the bench. If we are going to aim to get results every match, then we need a balanced side to start our home games. On another note, that's two consecutive Town results I've correctly predicted and I've not put any money on!
Okay so haven't seen the game / ' highlights ' etc however one this is quite apparent - at the minute we're pants at home / very decent away. 2 goals scored in EIGHT home games - shocking. That being said, we've still only conceded one goal max with CCV in the team. Defensively very good right now. Peoples thoughts on Celina? He's had a chance H to Burton / H to Sheff Utd now. 0-0 in both. People on TWTD not at all impressed with the young lad - shades of Maitland Niles season with us? Fading badly now and needs a summer to grow/ come back stronger for the next move of his career? Not that this is going to benefit us any! Just wonder.... With Celina in this kind of form, Carayol injured... (get well soon ) No Didsy / No Huws / No Dozzell / No Bishop.............. Seriously irate with this injury pile to key creative players. Cannot wait to see the back of Didsy to be honest - love him when FULLY fit / on form but a waste of wages ie for now. Feel Bishop perhaps should sadly be released or viewed as a wildcard next season.............. Dozzell will surely be fine next term / you'd imagine Huws will have his injury issues again but surely get more minutes than this!? Probably McGoldrick 2.0 but a class player at this level when fully fit..... Not the most inspiring of lineups it has to be said, however at least we've stuck with a system.... Hull next.......... hmmmm
Celina wasn't great yesterday but he had no help around him. When he receives the ball he has maybe two options, go at the defence himself or pass to a well marked Waghorn. We don't have any runners coming in from deep although Iorfa and Kenlock got forward well enough. Celina sometimes makes the wrong decision but to be honest he doesn't have many options anyway and whichever decision he makes is a difficult move that won't always work. The balance of the team is so off that we really only have two attacking players who feel like they need to take the whole opposition on whilst the rest hang out on the halfway line!
Completely agree SD. We've had quite a few good players over the past few seasons who we haven't made the most of because the passing, movement and support around them isn't good enough
What is this "passing, movement and support" evil you speak of?We'll have none of that cheating witchcraft at Mick's fortress Portman Road
