Im suprised the bookies price it up that way when we are at home. Let's not forget we're above them in the league and still in 2 cup competitions. So we are doing better than them this season. I would never back it, as I'm superstitious about backing us, but I don't quite understand how the bookies can have us as joint favourites at Old Trafford.
Yeah it looks like value to me. Just feel it would be very Jose to sneak a 1-0. Will decide tomorrow.
Remember the bookies price it according to expected odds but also volume of bets to minimise their risk whatever the outcomes. I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool fans are betting heavily on their team thus driving the price down. Take a look at the matched amounts on Betfair - £45k backed on Utd, £70k backed on Liverpool. The money moves the market, plenty of mugs lining up behind the scousers I know a mate who has made consistent profits over the past few years laying Liverpool for the title / top four as he knows their fans will back them heavily and the price will move favourably as a result. He's even made money the last two seasons from their uneven form as they were so short before the season started he could trade off on their inevitable blips in form.
He isn't though. The centre forward is there to score goals and Lukaku scores more. Pogba is simply a way better football than the Ox, full stop.
In all comps Firmino is 21 goals 10 assists, Lukaku 22 goals 6 assists not much in it there. Pogba > Ox no doubt there though.
Generally speaking the bookies will just follow suit with the exchanges. If Ladbrokes take no money on a horse but it moves from 5/1 to 2/1 on the exchanges overnight, they will still shorten it in line with the exchanges. The days where bookies just run books and shorten selections based on the money they take and the liabilities they have are long behind us. They don't need to as they know they are guaranteed to make money if they just put up odds that are fractionally less than the exchanges are offering. There obviously are some mugs backing Liverpool on the exchanges, but most of the money on the exchanges is likely to be from your big players and serious gamblers. Your general RS fan, doesn't have the intellect to understand a betting exchange, or the money to be moving markets on the exchanges.
We are a much more pragmatic side under Mourinho though, so Lukaku is probably getting less opportunities. That's a big reason I don't want Mourinho as our manager, as I feel we have some very good attacking players but we are not making full use of them. You may not agree, but I think man for man, our side has a lot more quality, we just need a manager that will make use of that talent.
I actually agree and think that the incosistent form of Pogba and Rashford is down to Jose. I fully expected this from Jose as he has history for it at Chelsea where the first part of the season he allows his team to play and attack and then come Jan it's defend and pick up enough points. Pogba is an AM and does his best work in and around the box but he isn't allowed to get into those positions often enough under Jose. At the start of the season he was linking with Lukaku and looking a top player and now he's back to playing around in the middle of the park and it just doesn't work for him.
I still think Pogba should be able to do a job in the middle of the park, and it has a lot to do with application. Scholes played as both a CAM and a CM, but the big difference with Scholes was that he had the desire defensively to get back into position and defend. Scholes did have the advantage of playing alongside Keane when he was coming through, and most players would be to scared to abandon Keane on his own in midfield. Id like to see how Keane would have reacted if he was alongside Pogba in that Spurs game
With your defence lol. If Jose plays attacking we will win no doubt about it. Martial, Sanchez and Rashford would have a field day against your defence and GK.
City are the best side in the league, you lot are a million miles from them. Only Salah would get in their side from you lot. We are having a better season than you lot as it stands, being above you and still in 2 cups to your 1
Then you don't agree with your 'class of 92' ex-player? Oh, and care to explain our most recent result against city?
I don't have to agree with everything Neville says just because he was a great player for us. He is entitled to his opinion, as is everyone else. You beat City fair play, as have Shakthar, Basle and Wigan. you still lost 8-4 on aggregate in your 2 league games against them this season. Let's not forget that. You have to look at the season as a whole though, rather than just cherry picking the odd result here and there. As it's quite clear we are better at winning matches than you are, and results prove that.
Let's see what tomorrow brings, then. See you on Tuesday. I'm off work on Monday. Only come on here at work
What word? You don't mean work, do you? Contrary to common mancunian perception, everyone has a job on our board, unless they've retired.
