Well Gayle certainly seems a lot nearer his best form recently so I'd play him. Have to say I'm always nervous playing Southampton as they have long been a bit of a bogey side for us. Will be confident and go for a 2-0 win.
The fans have a huge part to play on the weekend. Southampton fans seem very disillusioned under Pelligrino and if we can keep it tight early and put them under pressure the backing from our fans and negativity of theirs may swing it in our favor. Hopefully Gayle continues his decent form of late and can bag a goal, also feel Ayo is due a goal shortly but still expecting it to be tight game and probably a boring 0-0
Our away support generally isn't negative. At home yes it's ****ing awful but we normally stick with the team away. Do you reckon you lot could get restless if you're struggling in a poor match?
Same with ours I guess, they sing their hearts out win/lose/draw away. I think my point was probably more WE need to not get on the backs of our players, as others have said this can happen fairly swiftly at home matches. What is your opinion on Pellegrino atm? Stange situation down at St Mary's, don't think anyone would have had you guys down as being involved in the relegation scrap this year but it seems like it is starting to dawn on Soton that you have been sleepwalking towards this this year, not been in the bottom 5 until quite recently from what i understand.
We need Man U type atmosphere again. The club should have put something out regarding this in the Chronicle or something. The fans always respond to a rallying call. It does largely come down to the attitude on the pitch though. We fought like dogs against Man U. We need to do the same again.
Exactly! Difference between the Man U game and Bournemouth is we did it for 90m vs ManU and only for 80m vs Bournemouth.
Slimani still out injured and looks like misssing the Huddersfield game. How did this lad pass a medical?. All we seem to be doing is paying his wages instead of Leicester. I'd send him back and is he worth £20m in the summer, I think not.
I dont think we had time for the medical. I would hope we don’t pay him till he actually starts playing - its ridiculous.
Anyway its match day. @I am Groot get the music up. Biggest game of the season to date. 3pts from this and I think we will go on to comfortably avoid relegation. Anything less and it wont look good. Come on you toon!
Anyone else in nervous poo mode today? Already had two. And yes, Sunderland fans are in my family, before you ask. I just evolved to doing it at home.
Actually feeling confident. Have looked on Saints board and whilst they think they will get something out of the game they seem to think they will find it difficult to score, not due to our defence but because they’re players are struggling to score. So long as we play a la Man U game or the first 80 min of b’mouth game then i believe we will win.
