Ouch... like when a guy who's won it all sticks the boot in like that you can't brush that off too easy and bitter rivals jealousy.

Its not like if they beat us he won't have a stinging comment for us too. we concede many chances also.

CL - my first choice - win the thing. Second choice - go as far as possible. Third choice - don't go out to an English side.

I remember clearly when traveling down to Wembley for the 78 EC final on the train all the flags and banners(home-made)wishing Liverpool well, this happened through Widnes, Runcorn, Crewe, Stoke right through to Wembley Central.
In contrast today for example on the HYS section on the BBC Spurs articles is Spurs fans banging on about how much better than us they are, how they "outplayed" us for the whole game at Anfield and how much most of them want us to lose in the next round, almost totally ignoring what they were supposed to be commenting on.
I for one couldn't have cared less one way or the other whether they lost or won, regarding the other clubs in it, if City win it good for them but without the Arabian lotto money they spent they'd still be in the Championship, Chelsea, well they have next to no chance but if they pull a win out of the hat at the Nou Camp and win it I'll applaud them, as for Utd, I could never want them to win the big cup and edge closer to our record, it would be sickening, as for us, well I'm happy we're still in it, won't make predictions or jinx us.
But rivalry and hatred makes it harder these days to wish all domestic foes well in Europe's premier competition.
    Sad but true.

True, the opinion platforms of today online give oxygen to the haters, back in the day you'd have to buy a stamp, envelope and paper and pen, write your comment, post it to a newspaper, wait and hope it was accepted, then wait around a month for a reply.<laugh>

You're right mate. When did it all change? Same with the derby getting all hate-y rather than banter-y.

I wonder sometimes, with the spread of social media, whether it's fans reactions to other fans they don't like to want their team to lose. From my own personal point of view, I read the nasty comments from some rival fans on here - teams I don't have any feelings for one way or the other - and I think 'hope you lose that game' based on nothing other than a reaction to a comment I thought was unnecessary <laugh> In my defence it happens very rarely :emoticon-0111-blush

I think it's **** tbh mate. I got slaughtered on here last year when I said "good luck Man Utd" prior to their Europa League final. Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't want them to win but why such strong objection to a gentlemen / sportman like action?

I used to want Liverpool to lose every game they played, that’s always been the case amongst Blues I know, rivalry innit.

However, there was always begrudging respect when something was won, and many of us turned out to watch your victory processions to mark that respect. That’s whats changed imho, as that wouldn’t happen now.
