    Actually, and unusually, agreed. They did the Hollywood thing. Very different from the book.

    Happens too often and ruins stuff IMO

    That said I dont always buy into the whole hype with certain movies.

    I love books. Rarely do great books transfer well to the screen. The Book Thief is a phenomenal book and should have been a no brainier to turn into a great movie. The film is very average.

    On the flip side, The Godfather is a great film. Ever read the book? Zzzzz.

    Yeah I read a few of the Mario puzo stuff. I know what you mean about the zzz but for mW personally it helped explain bits in the film. Although Luca brasi went from this really mean bloke to the donkey in the film

    Mario Puzo.

    Read the book before I saw the film. Thought the book was even more violent than the film, from memory.

    Always a good move, other way round and you suppress your imagination because the characters and scenery are influenced by what you saw in the movie...ruins the experience for me of reading
