This thread is a counter to the Bradley Wiggins thread. Sir Roger was a true sportsman, respected by everyone inside and outside his sport, as the tributes show. It feels like the death of an era, as well as the death of a wonderful man.
A lovely tribute to Sir Roger on Radio 4 this morning. Truly from a bygone era before the country was ruined. Sir Roger was the epitome of self effacement - describing his achievement as “lucky” due to wind speeds that day, and going on to say that his professional deeds as a doctor/ surgeon meant far more. A great man. You won’t see his like again.
Probably not the right thread to ask on.. but did you see CP going round? Good job on doing the half marathon also
he was 10 mins up the road. i did a 2hours 9 mins. he came in just under 2 hours. was gutted not to have seen him at all. but not as much as i ached.
