Crept on the board expecting the worst.. Haven't read any of the posts here, but wow, things are pretty bleak aren't they. No way around it. Atmosphere approaching nuclear levels of meltdown. Don't think I have seen us play this badly in 20 years.

Scratch that. This is approaching 70s levels of awfulness. Our early 90s vintage at least knew how to defend (if nothing else). Could this possibly be the worst Arsenal side of the last 50 years?

Similar to di Matteo 2012 at Chelsky ??

PL season over, manager that players may be
just going thru the motions for is dumped, a
remaining prize to rally around / focus on.

Short term for the rest of the season it would be a huge morale boost for the team and we would see some nice football to end the dreadful season. But long term no way. He would however make a good assistant to be groomed as a possible long term succesor of he's good enough.

No idea what Bould is like as a coach. He isn't very good as assistant coach but that could be because he's got Wenger as the head coach. I suppose he can't do any worse than Wenger.

is not over tbh.. you have good chance to win Europa league and be back to CL.. last Year it was enough to bright up our season
but tbh your players need to preform, you will not knock off Milan with such attitude & lack of desire

Wenger in post match comments - On their Europa League last-16 game against AC Milan on Thursday: "It is important to recover mentally and physically, we are still jaded today, we gave a lot on Thursday night and you can see that today."

What did they give a lot of on Thursday??? THIS is why fans are pissed off with Wenger the most, his constant bullshit. Just ficking tell it the way it is instead of making one bullshit excuse after another.

No we don't have a good chance of winning the EL. We don't look good, have team deficiencies and a manager that doesn't know what to do but is too stubborn to accept it. We just got comfortably outplayed in the first half by Brighton and that was after 2 batterings by City. Where was the pride?

    This season can't finish quicker.

It’s astonishing what is happening here. I have never seen a team with lower confidence - We seriously cannot buy a win at the moment.

Someone mentioned it before but thank goodness we have 40 points, because we flat out look like a team fighting against relegation. I honestly did not expect it to get this bad.

I think we're lucky that none of the mid table sides have had great seasons, another year we could easily have found ourselves lower than 6th

We might still the way things are going, Burnley aren't far behind

I don't know, you look at the other leagues in Europe, the chasing clubs are well off the pace there as well. The EL is still up for grabs.

The EL is still up for grabs, but we look absolutely shot at the moment and have zero confidence. If we can somehow muster a win against Milan on Thursday, then it will give a completely different slant on things and will give these players a huge boost. But I'm basing that on pure hope, because all the evidence points to us getting beaten again.

Winning the EL could be a poisoned chalice as it will likely lead to Wenger seeing out the final year of his contract or even being offered an extension.

The best case scenario is for Kronke to come out this week and announce that Wenger will be stepping down in the summer. Let the players rally for one last hoorah and go full tilt for the EL so that whoever takes over has CL football to entice new signings with.

For my part, I'd happily see you win the trophy if it meant Wenger staying on. You won't do anything of note in the CL anyway.

I can't remember where I read it, but I was reading somewhere that prior to Wenger's two-year extension following the FA Cup win, the board were split over whether he should have been offered it in the first place. Funnily enough, it was [purportedly] the old guard, including Gazidis, that felt Wenger's time at Arsenal had come to an end. Leaving after a record-breaking FA Cup win would have been a respectable way to depart.

However, Kroenke overruled the decision and insisted that he stayed.

I'm not sure how true this rumour is, but there is no smoke without fire. There's no way Kroenke himself would end Wenger's contract early of his own accord. The entire board, including his son Josh, would need to convince him to do this.

The world and its dog know that, given how this season is petering out for us, there is no legitimate case for him to stay beyond May 2018.

Assuming that rumour is true, my fear is if Kroenke intervenes again and insists Wenger leaves 'with dignity' and sees out his contract, things will exacerbate to levels that would have never been imagined before.

I know it's cliched, but this Summer could make or break the club. They can't afford to get anymore decisions wrong otherwise the damage could be irreversible.

My issue is not only with Wenger. Kroenke has done little to show he cares about this shambles of a situation. Wenger should not have been offered a new contract and should have been sent packing after the last FA cup final. The board/ownership of this club are an absolute embarrassment and should hang their heads in shame.

Kronke has done **** all, he's not even present at the club when it counts. As Brunel says, Gazidis was actually agitating for change last summer, but Kronke overruled him and gave Wenger a 2 year extension.

There is clearly a bit of tension between Gazidis and Wenger, as highlighted by Wenger's comments regarding Mislintat having to report to him and not the CEO.
