I actually rejected a position in a biomass company on the basis of the above. long terms its just substituting one thing to burn for another. The amount of energy required to convert biomass into usable material either in wood chip burners or by steam explosion is huge. I don't think it is about efficiency its about political drive to keep jobs in areas where coal etc is phased out.

Importing hundreds of thousands of people and putting them on welfare, with no expected return on it, is ****ing disaster.
