I went to the zoo the other day. As i was walking around I saw a baguette in a cage. I asked the zookeeper what it was and he said "bread in captivity".......
Me too, but to all these smug people with a day off, I will remind them this in the summer when it is 25 degrees and I'm 'working' from home
I agree Fran. The timer on the boiler in my house needs a degree in astrophysics to understand it. So I just leave everything on constant and play with the thermostat. Slightly worried now, because the company who at going to do my bathroom are going to change the boiler (“we don’t need to change the timer because it’s a modern one”) and install a “smart” thermostat
Well, I managed to get into work this morning, for a 05.00 start. Roads are a bit slippery but nothing that careful driving couldn’t cope with. It’s the side roads that are the worst, where they haven’t been treated or used enough to reduce the snow. Finished early, (10.00) to take my wife for her hospital appointment, only to find out it had been cancelled, so feet up and chilling in the warm. My wife’s oncologist phoned her personally, to cancel the appointment and to inform her that the MRI scan is CLEAR!!! He still wants to see her in the near future to discuss her current situation and his plans for monitoring her progress. He’s such a nice bloke, he even remembered that we have a holiday booked and said he would pop a letter in the post, confirming she is ok for travel, which is needed for travel insurance purposes.
Mint tea is the only vaguely tolerable alternative to proper tea. Think my son left some in the cupboard....otherwise it is black tea. Just wrapped up and tried to get to the shops....slid one metre from my doorstep, so gave that up. The snow is ice here and a neighbour said there is black ice on the road.....so another day indoors. If one of you happens to come to the Isle of Wight and happens to pass the Sainsburys in Newport, I could send you a shopping list. Stay safe and warm.
Clever Though my mint tea is mint leaves and boiling water and my ginger tea is chopped stem ginger and water.
Anyone in that area should be careful. Apparently there’s an old boiler with only three buttons and she doesn’t like them being pressed.
Just found out this morning Mrs greensaint has been sneaking out with hot water bottles for the hens the last few nights, silly sod. Hens are not fans of snow apparently, using a strange wading technique when they have to walk on/through it. They also seem to hold me responsible for this white stuff, very vocal about it.
