Thought the VAR and decisions were ****, completely ruined that first half in what was actually looking like a good game.

Lamela's goal - nothing wrong with it, Rochdale's defence didn't even react until the Ref signalled for VAR then they all played the game, as any team would.

Penalty decision - Wrong call in my eyes, Tripps was initially fouled outside of the area so should've been a freekick.

Admittedly I don't know the correct calling on the next part but the penalty itself was ****ing weird. Surely Son should've been allowed to retake it, no? Why disallow AND book Son? Is that correct? I swear I've seen in the past players haven't even been booked for it but have just had to retake it... Weird, man.

Yeah, it's pretty **** for the fans at the ground.
It's too slow, cumbersome, time consuming and vague. It destroys the momentum of the game, too.
I've no idea why each decision seemed to take so long. If it's not clear, then just leave it.

The other thing is how unsatisfying it is as part of the spectacle. You score and then you wait to see if it actually counts.
In terms of fair play, I think it can work out in the long run, once the kinks are ironed out and it's more streamlined.
They'll have to make it much, much quicker, though.

They need to go the rugby route of refereeing if it's kept, in my opinion.
Everyone in the ground needs to be able to hear what's given and why, while the players back off and let the officials do their job.
I genuinely didn't know what the ref had done for the first disallowed goal until half-time.
The goalkeeper restarted it from his six-yard box and the gesture from the official was really vague, after all the distractions.
Goal kick? Offside? Linesman wasn't flagging, but would he have to with VAR having been used? No idea.

With the lamela goal we did not know what was happening...did not even know it went to VAR until after and had no idea why it was ruled out.
When the penalty was given it was originally given as a free kick and again we were not informed about VAR being used so the crowd wete getting irritated at having to wait about a minute for the free kick to be taken and then it was given as a penalty but we had to guess why it was changed.
When the penalty was scored VAR flashed up on the screen so we knew that went to review but had no idea why it was ruled out and why Son was carded.
After EVERY goal the ref put his finger to his ear so although we celebrated we then had no idea if it would count.
TBH I was in favour of it cos it was supposed to be about correcting factual mistakes but if you can not tell the crowd (who pay to watch) what is going on then it is a joke.

Made no difference tonight to the result but if it had been Rochdale that were on the recieving end then VAR would have negatively changed a result for the worse and if that's how it is going to be run (with no announcements or explanation) then football will become virtually unwatchable in the ground.

Is VAR the problem or the stupid refs that still make the wrong calls?

If a player can't pass, is it the player or the ball's fault?

I think VAR can work...refs are ****ing brainless

It's not that bad. Usual overreaction to a bit of bad weather, for me.
Made the match a bit dodgy, as visibility was ****e and the ball kept getting caught up, but there was no problem getting there or back.
Can't speak for everyone though, as there were delays and cancellations on a few train lines and bus routes, apparently.

Mark Mason is wrong as are you ex referee Hilary. The rules state that an indirect free-kick will be awarded to the defending team if a penalty taker feints to kick the ball after completing their run-up - although the rule adds "feinting in the run-up is permitted".

Happy to have educated you in this football matter. <ok>

I agree with you, our game v Fleetwood in Jan was a good example, two occasions, minimal disruption and correct calls. That was Jon ****ing Miss too <yikes> !!!

Educate yourself....if Son hesitated before he struck the ball that would make him about 3 feet away from the ball. However he still took some steps after his faint you blind one eyed biased tosser. Therefore another **** call <ok>

Arsenal have put out a plea for fans to help shovel snow at the Emirates Stadium.
Their press officer said "If enough fans arrive to help we can shovel enough snow onto the pitch so that the match is cancelled." :bandit:
