Lovely morning here in tramore bright sunshine with the odd snow shower. About 1cm of snow on ground, main roads gritted but side roads are lethal especially after the odd car has compacted the snow into a skating rink.... School's closed obviously but real problems could be tomorrow once storm arrives from bay of biscay we've been told to expect a lot of snow...
This is what gets me. Yesterday, when the snow was not enough in Ipswich to stop anybody doing what they wanted to, Grotty cancelled the trains. Today, they are running (or were earlier) & the snow is continual & already deeper than we have had for decades!
I have 50cm here now and -8 Time to get thunderbird 2 out i grant you Where there’s a will there’s a way Yep it dodgy as have 200 ft sheer drop off of my road to hamlet but it makes it all a little bit more exciting as I have to get to Beziers later to pick up my lady
It all depends on what you are used to and prepared for I suppose. Extreme events are extreme anywhere, what we are experiencing isn’t extreme at all compared to normal winters in Russia and parts of the US, but we are just not set up in terms of infrastructure and mentality for it. Bad weather ****s up flights in the US, but I am always impressed with how much else continues almost as normal except in the very worst conditions. Schools usually open later to give the school buses time to warm up. People don’t moan about it as much. Just about to walk the dog with my big coat and snow boots on, looking forward to it. Bracing.
My Friend in France is having a bit of trouble saying the roads where he lives are a nightmare. then again he does live in the wilderness.

Fine but very cold sunny day here in Reading. I slipped over this morning and fell flat on my arse...
must be cold, only 6,800 turned up at the Madjeski last night. Or is it something to do with the classic football these Dutch masters are knocking out these days? Still blue skies and quiet here
And the 800 were Sheff Utd fans. cant blame cold as Hull had 14K and it was bloody cold up there. Spoke to my Reading mate on Monday and he didn't seem too happy . I said I cant mock him too much as we're as bad under Hollow.
I do also 45 miles from Beziers in the mountains and currently in a blizzard Had 70cm now but on the upside it’s only -6 I will be fitting a butane warehouse gas burner onto the front of my v6 Renault Failing that then I have 5 hours white water canoeing to ponder ... one way trip of course to meet Mrs DT then it’s a hotel for the night
It's bad up here today - had to dig my pals van out earlier - about 6-8 inches of snow so far, with a Red warning issued from 3pm. Crawling my way back home from Glasgow before it gets too bad, should take 25 minutes normally - not even half way and been travelling for an hour! Snow is compacting and becoming ice as it's -4.....
My update is Beziers closed and snow on the beaches of the Languedoc Mrs DT off to Perpignan a la Ryanair and then hotel it Leaving me to watch Zulu in 3D Back of the net
Where I am it’s not meant to be too bad, but with heavy snow flurries followed by bright sun and -3 temperatures I reckon it could get very dodgy tonight and tomorrow morning when the slush on the roads has frozen.
At the moment our part of the country is subject to an Orange Weather warning which is in place until 12:00 hours tomorrow 1st March. Then from 16:00 tomorrow until 12:00 on 2nd March we are in a status Red Weather warning, here's how its been described by Met Eirann..... Issued: Wednesday 28 February 2018 11:00 Valid: Thursday 01 March 2018 16:00 to Friday 02 March 2018 12:00 Stay safe all......
Chatham Ski Centre closes, too much snow... http://metro.co.uk/2018/02/28/ski-centre-closes-snowing-7348309/
Not a lot, maybe an inch or so, but then it's been a pleasant sunny day here so it has melted, however as the temperature hasn't got above 0 degrees today and with evening approaching the wet roads are going to freeze turning them into ice rinks. Then with the severe weather we are due to get tomorrow and Friday it will be very dangerous to venture outdoors. All buses, trains etc are not running for the next 2 days, so the country is pretty much in lock down.....
Just regular 5 minute long flurries followed by periods of sunshine here in the midlands Up to 8 inches expected over the next few days though apparently
