be very suprised if any jumps racing occurs this week with the forecasts of frozen ground and wind chills meaning it stays that way. all day , so sand dancers it will be .......
Bookmaker 2.25 Lingfield. 9/1 Very well handicapped and looked ready to run well lto only to blow the start and then manage to get in more trouble after catching up. Probably not the most reliable, but will pop up shortly.
they're all sand to me ron , although they're made from synthetic waste and all manner of stuff , looks like sand !
Talking of all weather racing. I was thinking about this yesterday. I used to think it was rubbish but I've changed my mind. I think lingfield is probably the fairest in the country. I think Southwell is awful and wolves not much better. Newcastle looks ok and Dundalk looks pretty fair. There are some on here that are quite knowledgeable and would be interested in their views
I for one love it. When proper flat racing finishes, if it wasn't for the all weather i'd have very little interest in racing with exception of Cheltenham. The only reason i look at jumps racing now is because i do the scoop 6 with a friend all year round.
To watch and have a bet on i personally really like Dundalk. To go to, i can't comment because i've never been to one
You missed Chelmsford off the list mate! As an owner thats the best as the prize money there is better than all the others. Newcastle looks like an excellent track and from a punting perspective I would say the most consistent. Lingfield for me is the worst, sorry that contadicts your view but the short run in from the final bend produces more hard luck stories than all the others put together. Kempton has the best quality racing but is completely soulless. Southwell and Wolves are dog tracks!
Did go to Wolver one Saturday night about 15 years ago. Had a great time, but that was probably down to rakes of beer and the winner in the last, trained by Eric Alston and ridden by Fallon. Obliged at 4/1 with my lazzies on it!! Might have been called "Bowcliff". Good night though!
Like FP I used to think AW was rubbish but that was because the standard was very low. I'm beginning to warm to the AW more and more from a punting angle because: 1. Horses that are trained and raced on the AW have uninterrupted training on the surface on which they will race. I would qualify that by saying for example trained and raced on Tapeta, trained and raced on Poytrack etc. Turf is a different kettle of fish as the changes in going during race preparation and/or at race time can be a nightmare. This can turn form upside down 2. Race times are a more reliable guide on specific surfaces 3. A lot of AW racing is shown on ATR and therefore free videos available afterwards to help assess a horse's chances From an enjoyment angle, there are some decent horses running on the AW these days, with bigger prize money on offer and I would imagine that a night out watching the races under the lights could be interesting and, in some cases, spectacular. I'm sure some AW courses will become more popular as more money is pumped in and new courses built. This could be bad news for some existing courses but for horse racing it will be good news as new courses will be more up class with big races attracting top class horses
Chelmsford and Lingfield would be my least favourite all wether tracks. Both tend to favour prominent horses but because of this they tend to go too quick and it comes down to luck as to what gets a run from behind. Newcastle is easily the fairest. Dundalk and Kempton are pretty fair but the draw is a big bias. I used to love Southwell as you could easily narrow down the fields by using C&D form.
I can't believe the lack of respect shown to Dunstall Park. If you think the racing is bad there you should try the after racing Friday evening disco. Fookin brutal, makes ladies day at Aintree look like Royal Ascot .
