I swear de Gea fell in a tub of butter before he came out today, I have not seen him this poor since his first season with us.
What an awful **** game! We should have attacked Chelsea non stop over 90 minutes and I want JM sacked
We definately rode out luck a little bit today, but it's still a nice win either way. The way we had been playing our top 4 chances where under threat, but I think today's game has gone along way to keeping us in there. 6 points to Chelsea is a nice gap to have. The big positive other than the result, was obviously Lukakus performance, a big performance from him. Hopefully he can continue in that type of form.
Don’t say that! Some discontents will come here and complain that we were under the cosh in the first half And some will moan we didn’t either win 4-0 or we didn’t have at least 70% possession.
Sure we did. When you are playing a team like Chelsea they are bound to make chances. Sometimes having a goal keeper like DeGea who routinely makes miraculous saves can be a double edged sword when the manager is a cautious man like JM. An early goal conceded almost forces him and the team to switch to a more attacking formation. Don’t expect anything different when the RS come to OT next. We’ll be cautious and defend in depth. And try to catch them on the break. No point expecting anything different.
you hardly need to defend in depth to keep a clean sheet against us next week since we are playing Newcastle at Anfield
I know these games turn on more important matters - squad selection, tactics and so on, but considering my lucky pants were in the wash today this was not a bad result. Good to see Lingard being given the game time, his contribution is never given enough credit in my view. Nice to see the Italian ****e's nose put out of joint too - what a tosser, hiding at the back of the tunnel before kick-off trying to avoid facing up to JM.
Well I think we all know Jose Mourinho is never going to change his play style. The problem with playing the way he plays, is when we don't get the result he is going to come under criticism. As his philosophy is basically sacrifice all style, to win at all costs. So if your gonna play that way you have to be successful. The game against the RS, is probably the key game in the battle for 2nd. Hopefully we can win it, and send them back into a battle for 4th. I think we should be expecting to beat anyone at OT, so it being at home gives us a big opportunity.
Massive win, The team turned up today as well, McTominay did well, Lukaku was superb, Matic was excellent as well.
Exactly. What did I say ? We have to be careful now not to drop points against the other teams and certainly avoid defeat against the top 6 sides if we cannot beat them.
Why? for not moaning about a draw at an away game at a CL Spanish club? For not castigating the manager when we all knew full well that entertaining the crowd was never his priority? For United not matching the RS's (who you seem to admire so much) 5-0 win against pitiful West Ham who had 12 players out through injury?
The usual negative tactics from Jose led to us getting out-possesed, out-passed and out-shot even at home, but at least for today it managed to secure a good result. My main takes from the match are: - 1) De Gea is human - it's so rare to see him make a mistake! 2) Morata is bad (really bad) and we got away with not paying £60 million for him in the summer. 3) McTominay convinced once and for all that he's capable to do a job in the starting XI when called on. Now there's a nice cushion to 5th and we are back above Liverpool I can stop getting a migraine every time I look at the table.
Glad to see his win percentage pick up. It couldn't have got much worse - in his first season it was lower than either Moyes or Van Gaal. He might reach title winning form one day at this rate, at PSG.
