Got to say i actually will lay that one at Benitez's door. You can't just lump it on Shelvey for missing a chance. I have not one ****ing clue what Hayden or Manquillo, both severely culpable in our worst runs, are going to add to the equation. If you're 2-0 up and should be 4 or 5 up, what the **** are you changing everything to make it attack v defence for 12 or so minutes? Honestly, I'm astonished by how naive someone of Rafa's experience acts. Well and truly ****ed it today for us.
I’m a big Rafa fan but he was massively culpable today. Manquillo and Hayden should not have been brought on. His subs can be uninspiring and his inability to react to game changes is remarkable. Very odd given his pedigree. Anyway on the plus side 4 points From Man U and Bournemouth is good going for a team fighting relegation. ****ting it for the Liverpool game. They will tear us a new one.
It could be worse than Rafa. It could be back to Allardyce. Comments from BBC feed: Chris: Season ticket holder at Everton for over 30 years and this is the most boring, uninspiring football I've seen. Can't wait to be mathematically safe and be able to get rid of Sam Allardyce and bring in a proper coach. Jon: So many games under Allardyce have been atrocious to watch this season. Get rid in the summer and bring in someone who isn't against shots on target
merino should of been on , his love for perez well , he payed the pen for that the day . does not matter how good you are . if you can not close out games like this . it spells trouble . these are the games that will send you down.
Richie had been very quiet in the second half but he's one of the players you want on the pitch when the chips are down and you need to hang on as he works hard to keep everyone focused. Mankey just ran around a bit when he came on and that's it.
I also consider Rafa culpable for that aberration and his inane ability to hand an advantage to our opponents with poor sub choices on a consistent basis.
Come on guys, from the moment Shelvey missed the sitter that game was molten pain BUT... we've played really well against Man Utd and Bournemouth, got 4 points and in our last 10 Premiership games we've won 3, draw 5 and lost 2 (14 points) both loses coming against Man City! We've been in good form for a while now, yes we're going to get stuffed next week (3-0) but possibly only need 2 wins and some draws from here with home games to come against the likes of Southampton, Huddersfield and West Brom. Plus our away games near the end of the season are the teams you want (mid-table nothing to play for opponents - Watford, Everton, Leicester - where we may get points we wouldn't get if they were more inspired).
We are missing sitters in most games but I see Mitro scored a good one for Fulham. 2 in 2 now. Why oh why didn't Rafa give him a chance before getting rid. Didn't trust him by all accounts but gives Shelvey plenty of game time.( No goals, no assists this season )
The MOTD analysis of Shelvey's role in the two goals we conceded was interesting. That level of effort is not good enough I'm afraid.
We are in good form there is no doubt. Those 2 points are big ones though. It’s the difference between a win away from the drop zone or two results. I honestly think the momentum from a win would have made us difficult to stop beating the drop. Now we are a bit deflated and have Liverpool next which we will probably lose heavily. Potentially we could be back in bottom 3 if results went against us and facing a 6 pointer against Southampton with them off the back of a win, us off a thumping. It may not transpire like that of course but I personally think those were a massive two points.
we were the entertainers then. they were the good days . even if we won fook all. anyway benitez made a lot of mistakes. putting darlow in nets cost us, 6 points straight away
I certainly don't think Rafa is God. I think he's a good manager and an improvement on what we have had for quite a while, but he is certainly not beyond mistakes. Some of his decisions have left me baffled. He is far from being the only person at the club making mistakes though. My issue was with thinking Bournemouth are not a better team. I think it's mad not to think they are a better team. Just because we have a history in the Premier League doesn't change the fact we are a promoted championship club. We have to earn the right to have a better team than teams who are more established. I think sometimes we can get hung up on the whole big club little club thing. It is fairly irrelevant. Bournemouth are a smaller club than us with a better team who are more established in the Premier League.
whey lets just leave it at that . i do not think bournemouth are better than us . dan gosling is pure crap ,watched them against huddesfield lately .( who were just promoted with us ) got tore to bits easily .they were never in the game for most of it ., if you can use your squad proper. i am not convinced they are a better team ..just my view
